Dear Mike, what a funny and passionate vidéo. As an European who lived in US for 4 years, I really appreciate your open mind when traveling and meeting different people. That is so valuable to exchange with others who share same passion. Keep going…

Wish I'd known you were there, I would dropped by to say hi! I liked that some more American sellers came to Europe. It's become harder and more expensive for us to order from the US in recent years. Usually 25 dollars in shipping for a single record, and for a while now import duties added to every shipment, no matter the value. I would kill for reasonably affordable access to Analogue Productions, MOFI, and other audiophile labels' stuff. Hopefully until next year!

You should check out Manu Dibango. He was a sax player, composer jazz, funk musician you name it from the Cameroon Africa. Sadly he was taken away by the pandemic. Listen to Soul Makossa, Pepe Soup and Besoka on Salsa. A gifted artist. He was also a big kind human being. The world is poorer without him. But we have his creations forever.

Hi Mike, as an ex dealer myself from England now living in Texas you are very right about record shows being different on this side of the pond. I still collect myself but struggle to find much of interest at US shows lol. If you are interested I have some unplayed Thomas Mapfumo releases on his original Zimbabwe label that I got from a Rough Trade Exec years ago

Great to hear your story and point of view on the Record Planet show! The reason why they moved to Den Bosch is that the location in Utrecht cancelled one day before, like you said, and the organisation wanted to omit that this year. Was great when I met you briefly together with my dad on the Sunday! Such a coincidence after watching your video's since 2 years and not knowing you were there, hahah!

Hi Mike. It was nice to meet you and your daughter on Sunday. I think your new spot was a better one than your first spot. I also prefer Utrecht much more then 'S Hertogenbosch. It's cozier and there is more atmosphere. That's my feeling about it. Also like you said a lot of UK dealers were not there, as well as some Japanese sellers. Great stuff that you found there. I like very much the wild thymes that I bought from you, the cover and tip on jacket is also great. You did a great job on this one.

I’am from the Netherlands, thank you for promoting us and our country Mike👍🏼. I’ve been several times to fairs in Utrecht, love it. I agree it is difficult sometimes to see what is what, but yeah you can find some nice gems! Funny to see that the some records are scrarces in the US and very common here. Tracy Chapman for instance is so easy to score. I love wacthing your vids and see what you got in your store. You have a great store! Curious to see your next vid of s’hertogenbosch😁. PS. U.K. here , that was interesting to hear from an American perspective , I’ve always wondered how traveling all that way , hotel costs , eating out and the costs of transporting records there and back again could pay? I used to buy a lot from Mexican , Chile , Uruguay dealers , mainly obscure (for me) Beatles pressings. For me though by far the better place to pick up the diamonds was from the general collectors fair that ran in tandem next to the record fair in Utrecht , I never failed to pick up £100-200 records for €5~€10 due to the ignorance of what the brick-a-brak seller was selling. As you pointed out the ravages of Brexit is going to change the game mightily for being able to buy U.K. pressings or indeed for U.K. dealers to make it worthwhile going there to sell. We’ve done some dumb things as a country but voting for Brexit must rank high amongst the dumbest…..hopefully within 20 years all the oldies that were looking through rose tinted specs will be dead and gone and we can rejoin , it’s too late for me as a 60 year old but the youngsters deserve better….

Hi Mike, just checking in again. I saw your video tour of the fair first, and then this one. Love the way you describe the journey and your experience. The Utrecht one was certainly different and much busier throughout all these years. Surely Brexit and Covid were main factors why this year's fair was different and many dealers not present. Although I wasn't able to make it this year, it's great to see that there actually was a fair again. Curious to see what they'll do next year locationwise. I'm sure it had a lot to do with the prices being charged by Jaarbeurs (Utrecht) and the one in Den Bosch (gaining momentum and offering introductory rates). If you decide in the future to come over again, let me know. Best regards from The Netherlands

I got an EX blue triangle UK Dark Side at the beginning of COVID for $200 when someone needed money. Also, this one does not have the pressing skip that occurs on some pressings.

Heres one reason for Teslas in Amsterdam For a Tesla you don't pay road tax in the Netherlands as it's fully electric. Compared to the heavy diesel Mercedes or BMW's they used to drive, this saves you around 150 euros per month. You know why the taxi drivers had nice clothes and cars? They pay people a decent wage in Europe. They all have good healthcare. The people have nice things. You've lived in the hellscape of the US so long we don't realize that the world is moving beyond the US. It's true. And in Japan, China, Turkey and the Middle East they are beginning to do the same. People in the US don't see how the rest of the world looks at the US.
