How do you know if it’s the diverter or the hot/cold water faucet that is causing the leak?
@DIYwithMichaelBorders
@DIYwithMichaelBorders 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Is water hot or cold? If warm, it’s your hot water stem. If cold, it’s your cold water stem. If water is visibly leaking from diverter or the diverter is performing poorly, we definitely recommend replacing diverter. Please keep us posted. Us DIY’ers need to stick together! 😎👍🔧🔩

GREAT video! Perfectly done, right to the point, clear view of all the parts, everything explained in an easy to understand way. Thank you for doing this for the rest of us!!! You're really a pro at making these kind of tutorials. I did find it strange, however, that your main water shut off valve was outside. Mine is very easy to reach right inside my house. I live in Chicago, that seems to be standard.

Just an observation, as long as you have the water off you should rebuild both the hot valve and the cold valve. If one side is dripping, chances are the other side will probably start dripping soon. Otherwise, nice video.

Within 10 or 20 minutes I return and it doing a steady drip of hot water. If I turn either faucet on and off again it stops temporarily again. Any idea what is causing that?

Hot water seems to be an issue on a lot of the plumbing issues I've had over the years. Seems to leak more on the valves/lines. For instance I install a washer, the hot water line leaks more often or not then the cold...course either I have insufficiently tightened it or added enough teflon. Likewise as in this video my faucet gasket/rings tend to go bad.

Ok so the one i have broke, and it wasn'y a metal like connection, it was with a plastic one, so my question is, do i NEED. A metal threaded thing from the wall to the faucet, or can i use another plastic one?? Also since its been using a plastic one for years perfectly fine, can i use a plastic one again? And can i just use a sprinkler riser as a connection

Hi Michael! Great video! I replaced all the seats, and stems from scratch. Brand new EVERYTHING! Gerber. I still have a very small drip from my 3 handle tub faucet. For the life of me, I can't figure out why. After I installed everything, no drips. After the first shower, small drip. Should I replace the brand new washers? Any thoughts?
