I have 18 acres of land in North Georgia and I’ve relocated at Least 400 box turtles here - these were all injured at one time by cars or dogs - got them fixed up and gave them a new home - I love box turtles

Rooster is absolutely adorable!!!!

I don’t know how cold it gets in Ontario, but box turtles naturally hibernate during the winter months in the ground. You might want to consider allowing him to stay outside so he can do that. No matter how much light, heat & food you provide, their internal clock knows what time of year it is, & they will brumate if they are t able to hibernate. They stop eating & become very lethargic. It’s not healthy for them. Aside from that, you’re enclosure is amazing, & you’re doing a fantastic job. He’s lucky to have you. He’s beautiful & has a lot of personality. Check out the Garden Stare Tortoise channel. They have a box turtle named Otis who has the most amazing interactive personality with people

I love your little turtle, Rooster. Very cute little guy and lot's more personality. I know most people, including myself, would've thought a turtle has personality , unless you're a ninja turtle . turtles typically need water to swallow, and if they swallow on dry land then their insides might have problems, as the water helps move food around

For the water tub, do you just take a hose and cycle the water, get old water out, new water in? Your turtle enclosure is spectacular! Those magical red eyes are mesmerizing! I think your turtle eats better than I do! It’s a lucky turtle!

Trim the branch just a little. (The tree will thank you later) then tie some twine to the branch. Put 2 screw hooks in the fence first is just so the twine don't fall in your way and the other is to hold the branch out of the way.

Poison ivy is going to kick your butt for cutting that tree branch lol

I saved a snapping turtle once. Was driving to work. And a female was crossing the road. Probably laying eggs the cars didnt care. So i stopped and got behind her so she coudlnt bite me. She smelled so bad! Had like a green moss on her shell. The swamp there is by a mall. People throw garbage and nobody cares. I saved a small orange box turtle in the same mall parking lot. Idk why they go near busy inter sections. Turtles are awesome like you kayla.❤😍 i wish i could help more of them. Nice people are so hard to find. Everyone is ambitious.
