As for eating, my kid at that age was definately affected by sugar intake. When his grandma gave him more than 1 vanilla yogurt per day he would eat nothing else. So I reduced sugary & processed stuff & his eating was better. I make stews & salads with fresh ingredients since then. The salad can contain just about anything, like beans, grains, boiled egg, leftover veggies, whatever. I usually put meat in the stew to make it really tasty but you don't have to. Adding mild curry, cumin, paprika herbs and a bit of stock cube or powder makes it amazing. (If you don't want to add cubes: use olive oil, celery salt & garlic or onion powder, for example)

I cant wait to see him walking. I know in time he will. You are the best mom. Your so patient, and calm with the kids. Your so encouraging with Beckham, and he responds so well to you. It is so sweet how you include Blakely with Beckham's feeds ect. He will be climbing the stairs soon.

OT food tips - 1. Either prepare/serve the veggies or protein first or serve small portions of each food (ex: a few pieces of veg/fruit and a few pieces of meat) and encourage Blakely to try the other food before getting more of the preferred. 2. If the she is uncomfortable tasting the food, just encourage interacting with it -touching, smelling, and/or giving the food a kiss goodbye 3. Involve her in simple age appropriate meal prep - washing fruit/veg, stirring with a spoon, sprinkling seasoning, cutting with a kid’s plastic knife or butter knife 4. Offer dips with veggies 5. Don’t always keep the same snacks on hand. Try to rotate different snacks to avoid getting stuck on one thing. 6. Serve small portions of foods and drinks high in sugar. It is okay to give another portion but when she’s had enough and wants more you can say something like “not right now but you can have another cookie tomorrow. If you’re feeling hungry now you can have some fruit or pretzel sticks.”

I always had to vet what my daughter watched really carefully, because things she wasn’t at all scared of during the day would terrify her during the night/give her nightmares. And it would be relatively random. But, she was imaginative, and so, nightmares. Good luck!

Hi, love your family :) Helpful tip to decrease blue light from electronics: you can adjust the light settings on an ipad by going to Settings ->Display & Brightness ->Night Shift. I am sensitive to eye strain so I always keep my iPhone on dark mode, which also reduces blue light exposure. Another recommendation is to switch any night lights to red or orange colors because they don’t suppress melatonin.

I read that you shouldn’t (adults and children) use electronics before nap/bedtime. It actually makes it harder to fall asleep. ❤

Hi Rach sorry to hear Blakeley is having a tough time sleeping, my niece at the same age did the same and my sister brought her a little light for her room she puts it on pink so it calming and makes her feel safe and secure having a light. And plenty of book about happy things that you could read to her before she goes to sleep. Good luck 🤞❤

I think You're on the right track with reducing Blakely's sugar and keeping screen time to a minimum. Mom, grandma and retired pediatric nurse here. For nightmares, restlessness, fears, etc, B vitamins can really help. Greens (many kids will at least eat broccoli) and whole grains have a lot. Nutritional yeast is loaded, and how I got B vitamins into my kids. It's cheesy flavor is wonderful on so many foods. We always sprinkled it on buttered broccoli or English muffins. But our favorite, even now, is to pop plain popcorn, add butter, salt, Nutritional yeast. Voila, cheesy popcorn. Oh my, I just made myself hungry. Bonus: it helps keep constipation at bay.😊

For the monster thing, get a spray bottle and put water, glitter, and a color in it. Tell her its monster spray, and when you spray it in her room wherever she thinks there might be a monster, they will stay away. Have you tried to cut out one of her naps?

Beckham was basically feeding himself and challenging himself today! Go Beckham Go. It was sweet how Blakey was helping feed Beckham. He started feeding himself because it seemed like it wasn't going fast enough for him. Beckham knows want he wants. Loved the Mickey shoes. Those shoes have better support for his feet as well.

Screen time before bed tends to have a negative effect. Try going into a calm quiet environment with her a read a story book with her. A story book with either mummy or daddy she will soon love and look forward to xx

What about when she gets ready for bed she can listen to an audio book instead of watching tv or having tablet time that could help get her to sleep and help her be less anxious maybe ?? Still being able to do something while laying there but nothing to exciting😊 if you give it a try i hope it helps !!

My kids all started having restless sleep and I found a it was a way to get out of bed they are smarter than you think lol. B it was a sign it was time for a big kid bed this can be scary as a parent but the trick is to be consistent with them explain what you expect of them and of course let them know you love them. If they get up you immediately put them back to bed and tell them it's bed time and then immediately leave and don't engage in conversation with them. Then if they get up after that you immediately put them back to bed and don't say anything to them and repeat until they get it. And trust me they will do anything to get you to pay attention to them lol they even know how to pull on your heart strings lol 😆 they are so smart but consistency is key. I also kept a strict bed time routine worked like a charm.

Screen time before naps and bed is the worst time because of the blue light in screens, maybe you could get her a speaker and play stories for her to listen to without watching something? I used to be obsessed with my cassette tape player telling me stories as a child!

I was a babysitter for a very long time here's some ideas for you to start with Blakely she's now just through this is a good time to start it the timeout Theory every time she lashes out find a corner somewhere in your house and put a bean bag chair or a regular chair tell her that it was not nice to do that and place her there for 1 to 2 minutes and as she gets older had a minute to it for a night routine start with a countdown depending on what time she goes to bed at night so you can play for a few minutes say that's at 7 then give her a 2-minute warning and say it's story time and you can pick out your book say it's 7:30 play Ali it is bath time and then if it's 8:00 8:30 it's nighttime and getting ready for bed if you have to start a second book that should help because it helped me tremendously when I was babysitting and if they have a lovey that they go to bed with at night that's fine but start weaning her off of it by the time she is through because I see three four and five-year-olds depending on their pinkies and your lovie's which is not good

While I totally understand your caution about talking to Blakely about sugar & I agree she's too young to be thinking about it right now, I would recommend that you think about how you want to talk to Blakely about sugar at some point. It will be brought up at school as part of the curriculum & I just want you to have chance to decide what you want to tell her about sugar & what you want her to know. I want you to be in control as much as you can be. And of course, I want the best for you, Blakely & the rest of your family, just like I know you do. It is difficult when schools discuss things with children that you should be in control of as a parent. More & more parents are turning to homeschooling here in the UK as our schools are being forced to teach more & more things that should be left to parents. It's even making teachers uncomfortable. But I know homeschooling isn't right for everybody.

Maybe one of those star night lights? They sell them at Temu lol. & maybe be careful what she watches at night? We would let my daughter fall to sleep with us & then carry her to her bed but i know not all parents like to do that. Plus seperate floors, might wake her carrying her up.

You should get off all electronics one hour before trying to sleep. The light waves given off by electronics, can interrupt your sleep patterns. Adults and kids alike.
