How I set up my gravel bike for 350 miles of self-supported racing in the Flint Hills at Unbound XL. I share my bike build details, what I packed, my lights and GPS details, and what I would change next time.

Intersting Kait, don't ride but setting up for the gdmbr folks coming by my place this year, lots of water, places to camp property or shelter for ALL riders. Silly " how i set up for awesome riders on the GDMBR"? Might just see youtube channel myself of riders out here. Again great meeting you hot sulfur springs. Best wishes to you!

Nice set up and break down 👍🏻….I’ve a Revelate mag tank and the magnetic closure lost its grab so I rubbed a strong magnet on it to re-magnetise it 🥳Can you Bluetooth planned routes from Kamoot direct to that Garmin solar ? Thanks 🤟🏻

Great job! Question related to aerodynamics. Would running a revelate spinelock seatbag for storage be beneficial or not when it comes to drag?
@kaitboyle16 күн бұрын
I'm certainly not an aerodynamics expert, but I think a seat bag would be one of the better places to put gear!

Interesting, well presented. Can’t imagine doing the 1250 mile approach with that minimal setup. And the logistics for accommodations and food pre and post race is important for other racers. Don’t like the pump in the backpack as hard items back there create a risk for spine fractures during a crash. Better lashed to the frame, IMO.

Thanks! Did you see my video with the whole bikepacking setup? I converted the bike to race mode once in Emporia, it was quite loaded for the ride there! I stayed at a house while in Emporia, right in town. Between an easy walk to a store and generous friends who loaned me a car for errands, the logistics worked out smoothly. There's a place in the pack that keeps the pump away from my spine - agreed that is a concern and in this pack it works for me.

I thought aerobars were out for the XL
@kaitboyle15 күн бұрын
Nope, just out for the 200 mi elite. (kind of strange that the rest of the 200 mi fields can use them!)

@@kaitboyle yep. So if I understand what you said. You rode 1250 to get there then did another 350 during the race. Wow Sounds like you're preparing for the tour divide next year. You're ready 😁
@kaitboyle14 күн бұрын
@@tmayberry7559haha, i guess that would be a logical progression 😂

"10% quicker" sure buddygal, let's make it 18%, why limit ourselves in the BS factor?
