Came here to say this! The level of detail and effort is beyond sweet. This actually sounds like something everyone should look into in general. As we all age, our weight fluctuates along with different conditions people may experience.

My grandmother had this for one of her rings because she had rheumatoid arthritis. Very helpful. And, your husband was very thoughtful and sweet to do this for you. He's a "keeper."

@@bailey7792my ring can fly off if my hands get cold in the winter because the base of my finger and my knuckle are basically the same circumference. It fits most of the year, but fingers fluctuate a lot with heat. In the case of this lady, cinching the ring underneath her larger knuckle means her ring will not fly off. Major bonus!

@@bailey7792 Not really, but it is technically possible. Especially if you lose weight or your hand is slippery from some substance. In her case even in such a situation the ring would stay on since her knuckle is bigger than ring

@@bailey7792yes. lol my late husband lost two rings like that. And I have similar issues with my knuckles being big but my finger is so small so my ring is too big technically. It can come off depending on what I’m doing.

This comment is so relevant for me. I just graduated and got inducted into the order of engineers which comes with a ring worn on the pinky of the working hand. I wore it to bed and had an itch under it and could get it off. It freaked me out.

My husband needs that! He works with his hands and knuckles are often swollen so he can’t wear his ring much, I played soccer 13 years, left outside half, I tried keeper but not the spot for me, my mom actually coached almost every team I ever played on from fall league to indoor to summer league (everything but high school spring season). I’m 41. My mom was true pioneer in women’s coaching especially having never played the sport herself. My dad coached and reffed even college games, trained to be an Olympic referee but life and 3 kids derailed that. He coached my brothers. I was gutted when my son (only child) didn’t like soccer, but I now enjoy baseball and football :)

My Grandmothers engagement ring was made the same was. She had horrible arthritis, and needed the extra room to get over knuckles which were always enlarged. This way it fit snuggly on her finger beyond the knuckle.

This isn't the best solution for swelling since it is not meant to be closed at different ring sizes. It's just meant to get over the knuckle and then go back to its intended size and close there. What I've seen work best for swelling is sizing your ring up to fit the swelling and getting 2 gold/silver(whatever metal the ring is made of) balls and to the bottom of the shank- how much you swell will determine how large they'll have to be. This sounds a bit weird and people think it'll feel unconditional but TRUST ME- you don't feel it AT ALL. This is also the solution I usually recommend to people who have larger knuckles and can't stand their ring spinning either. The second, less expensive and non-permanent solution is a ring guard. You'd still need to size up the ring to fit the swelling and then get a ring guard from a jeweler or get a plastic coil one if you want more control and the swelling is less predictable

@@BrittanyWilsonlove your ring and love that you're showing this cool secret feature to people. Reminded me of my dad who I've been missing a lot lately. He kept a similar ring near his work bench just to show customers how it worked and how it could help them with their ring issues. Since it was pretty expensive (at least then) he would show this option, along with the other two I mentioned in a reply to the comment you replied to. I always thought this one was so great. As a basketball player I know that feeling. I’ve jammed my fingers so many times to the point that I just can’t unjam them. They are just permanently jammed. My knuckles are twice the size of the rest of my finger. It’s bad.

Honestly this is such a great idea in general for rings. There has been so many times where people have gotten their rings cut off due to an accident or medical issue that caused their finger to swell. Plus this is just a good idea all around because people’s finger size fluctuates depending on any number of medical reasons.

I have always felt like a super caring and thoughtful individual. I never knew that existed. A someone who broke fingers multiple times playing netball then had years of stress fractures from rowing, I have all the gnarly finger issues. Love this!

This would be good for someone needed a ring resize also. I got my wedding band (only ring I wear) resized at the jewelry store I bought it from. When I took it in, it was flat and straight edged. When they tried to give it back to me, it was domed and round edged. It took more effort than I should’ve had to put in to get them to fix it - considering THEY took photos before and after. I am convinced to this day that they switched it entirely or they melted it down and recast it in the smaller size, using a different design. It makes me mad because my original ring is now GONE. To “fix it” (after two failed attempts) they just reordered the same ring in my size. But my ring is gone so if it were more sentimental, I’d be lost right now. They weren’t apologetic, they didn’t want to look into what happened. They tried to gaslight me that it was the same. The photos were obviously different.

This is so neat I've bever seen or heard of this. This would save so much instead of of having to get your ring resized. I swell when its hot so i had to get my ring resized so that it always fits me.

I have one of those sausage fingers with a huge middle joint, too! Mine is the pointer finger on my right, dominant, hand. It's from a hard hit back when I was in my 30's and now its got some gnarly arthritis going on. We do lots of stuff in our youth and pay dearly for it when old age gets here!😂

Neat ring for any wedding ring especially sausage fingers. It’s the risk one takes for a sport such as we grow to enjoy. My experience with soccer was no matter how much I enjoyed there wasn’t enough love for the risk of my hands especially fingers.
