I love Anne Frank‘s diary! Just to let you know: she wrote it with the intention of publishing it after the war. Obviously she did not survive so her father carried out her wishes and did so on her behalf. Her goal was to be a successful writer and probably would’ve been overjoyed that millions of people got the chance to read it! But I totally agree with you about not giving it a rating; feels uncomfortable doing that. Great video x

I finally got my tbr down to zero a couple weeks ago and now it's back up to 8. Honestly, having no books on my physical tbr wasn't as satisfying as I thought it would be. It's pretty nice to at least have some options, so i'm hoping to keep it between five and ten going forward. Luckily I also have a great local library so I often get e-books through their website.

Both House of Leaves and IT should be consumed in small pieces. You could start those early, because they're massive, then read bits as you go. I'm in the middle of House of Leaves now, and I just flew through 150 pages in about 2 days. I've read IT 6 times, and I know that one will be a long and difficult journey. Disregard "the scene" in the last 1/3 of the book, youll know when you get to it, almost everyone pretends it doesn't exist

I recently did an inventory of my books.....I have 554 UNREAD. How did it happen? 2 decades of purchasing faster than I could read and not caring. I made the decision to buy no more books myself until I get the number down quite a bit. And even then, moderate purchasing and I have to read them right away 😂

The bell jar is amazing. Like beyond amazing. Read the first line of chapter 1, it’s one of my favourite first lines of a book ever.

This got me to actually count, and I currently have 167 unread books... Honestly, I need an intervention.

My embarrassing reason for wanting to read On the road by Jack Kerouac is that it is the book that David Bowie read as a teenager that inspired him and opened up all possibilities for him. It’s on his top 100 book list and he often talked about Jack Kerouac in interviews.

I counted my tbr in january and it had the incredible number of over 200. That's a lot so I want to reduce it to maybe 140/50, that is my goal. And smh I'm even more motivated to know that you've got almost the same goal.

I could be wrong, but I remember from somewhere that Anne DID intend for her diary to be read in some form. She heard a radio broadcast mentioning the publication of wartime journals and letters before her arrest and she began editing hers with the intent to submit it.

To be honest, I'm the type to read the first chapter of a book at a library or online and then buy it if I think I'll enjoy enough to finish. But that said, this often leads to books being left unfinished on the shelf, if I had to guess how many I own but haven't completed...probably around 35-55 depending on how lenient I'm being with it counting as "finished". But this video has inspired me to go through more! I honestly read a lot of informational books and take notes, so each can take me upwards of 20hr to get through, but I think it will be good to get back into reading this year along with me already getting back to going to the gym. Don't feel bad about calling 1984 sh*t, I have read it and it was a chore to get through for me. I can appreciate it for what it's doing (or what it was doing at the time of publishing), but man, had it not been for that university seminar that I was reading it for, I might not have gotten myself to finish it. And my physical TBR numer is at 13, so not TOO bad.

Mine is around 100-120 so you're doing better than me! A lot of mine are books I've picked up from charity shops because they were cheap and seemed good, but they're not my first priority because they're just what I happened to find and not something I sought out. This has inspired me to get on top of my tbr though! I'll purge the ones I've had for years and am not fussed about reading, and maybe have a year of only reading the books I already own :) Good luck with yours!

Thank God you only asked about my *physical* tbr. 😅 I currently have 20 unread books on my shelves. I still have to read 19 books to reach my 36 books/year goal so fingers crossed. Oh, and I can't wait for you to read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, they're my favorites!

i technically have 18 books in the physical tbr but most of them are really old, bought when i was a teenager. the vast majority of books i read nowadays are through my kindle. that tbr is the hundreds now haha

I want to read Sherlock too. Of the books you've mentioned, I have read Song of Achillies and Night Film. I enjoyed both but was disappointed slightly by the ending of Night Film. As for my physical TBR, it's freaking embarrassing. What can I say besides I love buying books - it's about 80+ ish.

I really can't be bothered counting them all, but I probably have close to 150-200 lol. I have a tendency to buy books and then never read them. I also have 2 big bookcases - one at my flat and the other at my parent's house. I must be stopped.

I actually only have 12 books on my shelf that I haven't read and want to! But I get 9/10 of the books I read at the library so I haven't had a chance to collect that many at my house. And I generally don't look that far ahead, I just figure out which 3 to 4 books I want to borrow from the library at that time and that becomes my active TBR list, then when they're done I go poking around the internet for what I should borrow next haha

house of leaves is absolutely confusing!! as a german who read this book in english i had to reread a few pages to understand what was going on! it took me a while to finish it, but in the end it wasn’t that bad! just wasn’t what i expected it to be!

I have about 35 books to read by 2023 to reach my 60 book goal for 2022. I only own about 10 books so I'm trying to read most of the books (6) I haven't read so I can resell them. The rest are library physical, library kindle & liibrary audio. I tend to look in used book shops for books my library doesn't have. The Handmaid's Tale is so good!. Pleaaaaase read Carrie this year! It’s so fast paced. I read 50% of the book the first time I picked it up, on accident. It just grabbed me! I also have The Hobbit on my TBR and it’s been there for an ungodly amount of time. You should host read-a-longs for some of these on your channel :)

Some are in boxes so I’m going to guess, 40. I’m also trying to get through my physical trb but sometimes I can’t read the physical copy like in bed, at night, in the dark so I’ve been borrowing the ebooks from the library so I can read in bed, without the light on. It’s really helped me get through them.
