The architecture of these buildings is "timeless." It pains me every time one is raized!

I grew up in Warren. It is typical of many towns in rural America. After the industrial base shrunk the leaders tried to make it into some sort of tourist attraction. There are a few attractions. But for the most part these towns are dying a slow death or are stagnant.

Where's the oil refinery? Funny and true story - my ex husband grew up in a very small town outside of Warren and when he and I moved to Erie, my ex inlaws would drive to Erie with their double tank pick up truck because they said gas was cheaper where we were! I never understood that - the oil refinery was only a few miles away!

Shame shame on the leaders of warren, no work no shopping, i have a list of all the stores before the town went boom! As I was born and raised before I left and came to Arizona, in 1968, and every year Im came back I could see changes and,stores closing. Still to,this day I,still remember that beautiful town I left behind. And the Christmas season the town looked like a Norman Rockwell town. 1

I used to live in Warren back in the 70s & early 80s. After Reagan got elected in 1980, I knew that it wasn't going to be good for Warren and I left. It's a good thing I did. Loranger's, Sylvania, and almost all the others closed down and left the whole town in a prolonged tailspin that lasted for decades. But there's one place in Warren that I sorely miss. The Peppermill Restaurant on Pennsylvania Ave. East. There's no place like it anywhere that I know of. The good people of Warren have been getting screwed ever since Reagan took office, except at the Peppermill. Damn that place is good. If they ever decide that they've had enough of Pennsylvania, may I suggest you come to Yavapai County, Arizona. Preferably Cottonwood, but Prescott will do, I guess.
@mikegross61075 жыл бұрын
Arizona Avenger what did Reagan have to do with people making wrong monetary (or otherwise) decisions? Sylvania probably sent their business to China or Japan; who knows WHY Loranger left, only the manager.
@theavenger98225 жыл бұрын
@@mikegross6107 Reagan's the one that made it easier for companies to take their business to foreign markets so that they could benefit from the cheaper labor there, and it decimated a lot of local economies, including Warren County. His union busting tactics also contributed to America's economic decline, because he's the one that pretty much "founded" the concept of runaway deficit spending. He had lots of help in that regard, too from Tip O'Neil & the Democrats.
@mikegross61074 жыл бұрын
What did Reagan have to do with all those businesses closing down? If there is mishandling of affairs in a business then the BUSINESS is responsible for their closing; if there is no longer a NEED for that business then it is nobodies fault but the state of affairs of the times we live in!
