My W209 Mercedes CLK500 Shifter weren't shifting from D to R (and P)

I checked all the solutions for stuck lever I found online, and looks like none helped me out.
This video shows another possible reason for the stuck lever as well as how to remove the keys from the ignition if you can't put a lever into the P position.

I have a 2005 clk 320 w209. Mine is doing the same so I removed the gear shifter and opened it up but I can't seem to find the problem it is still stuck in D and N and cannot go into R or P

Great info thank you so much i also have a clk500 04 . i been thinking if there is a way to turn the steering wheel if the battery is dead or removed ?

No as far as I know. There is an electric solenoid in the column that locks the wheel.

my c240 has about 160k miles. Recently, i can not put the stick from drive to park. I have to shift to neutral, turn the engine off and shift to park. Then the check engine lights on, with P705 code and i guess limp home mode. Someone told me its the shift lever module need to be replaced. Some other people me its the worn bushing and linkage. Some people said other benz has this problem at 70k miles. Some even said its the solenoid issue

Wow brilliant man i have a very similar issue with my w203 2002 220cdi auto, it is stuck in nuetral but will kinda go halfway into drive which allows the car to be driven forwards ok but cant go past n into either reverse or park, i actually noticed one of the crome plastic clips had snapped off so could it possibly be the exact same problem you found and fixed?! Sounds very likely to my untrained self! Thankyou for making this video and helping others👌👊👍

Nice video, when you use to have the problem, shifts are showed on cluster or not? I have an C240 W203 2002 with no shifts showed on screen, and I can’t move from D to R or P when this happens. Do you think this can helps ? Thanks so much.

What means “shifts allowed on cluster”?

@@HETPEZB He means that the gear section on cluster wont show, in my CLK 500 04 I have same issue and both gear and s/c mode sections wont show on instrument cluster, there is nothing where they are supposed to show (to both sides of millage indicator on the instrument cluster)

Im going out now to count how many of the trim clips are left /missing, i know there is at least one broken as it is in the ashtray, if there are more missing bingo!!!😅🤞👍

OMG yes this happened to me last night to my SLK200 171 and im looing all over the net for the possible cause. it was okay i reverse out from parking and drive for about 15 mins then when i need to reverse, it jammed! - all of sudden. stuck in D and N. how do i explain these to the mechanics, im not sure i can do it myself. thank God i found this video.

Ok but, did you repaired it? It was the same problem as in the video? I have the same thing now and idk what to do

@@leetsteel Yes something tiny plasticky broke off its slot and fell somewhere into the crease that block the gear from shifting. Its really nothing serious but have to send it done by the workshop. they just remove the junk and its done.

The same thing as you is happening to me except I can turn the car off in neutral and then put it into park and take the key out. I have been driving with this for a couple days now and it goes away sometimes and doesn't have this issue but then sometimes it comes back - the gear shift issue as well as limp mode happen together. Anyone know?

Transmission shifter assembly. The floor shifter is what Mercedes calls it.

I wish I would have saw this before I dropped my car off to the mechanic. I had this exact same problem. Cost me $220.00 to get fixed for a 9.00 part I could have changed myself
