The warbonnet superfly is the best tarp out there. I've had mine in 40+ mph winds and it held strong! Great vid!

Really? I have mine out for 2 hours in 5 mph and the stitching is coming apart from the reinforcement peice.

How did you tie in the shock cord to your guys line?

So I know this is an older video an the comments have went stale. But as someone else mentioned about the Mylar. I to need to figure out how to stay as cool as possible. How does the Mylar work as far as blocking out some heat? Does it do decently good? Or atleast a noticeable difference?

neat idea with the mylar blanket, looks like it will blow away in a stiff breeze. will catch wind like a sail. an idea: put the tarp over the continuous ridgeline, hang mylar blanket from ridgeline under tarp, use neodymium magnets to attach the mylar to the anchor points in the middle of the tarp. now you have a "windproof sun shade." could even sew the magnets in, and sew one in the corner of the "door," now you have built in system to hold the door folded back.

Hey Ashlar, thanks for the idea! Great too! I've used it in heavy rain and a storm and it holds up great for some reason hahaa. The only issue if it is, is that it's noisy =)

Unless I missed something, I was a bit curious as to why you don't have the Ridgeline running under the tarp, giving you more ground clearance among other things.

Love the heat reflector idea - I'm in the tropics -- not enough vids about HEAT: they always talk about staying warm ;)

So, if you lose one of those cute titanium do dads, do you know how to tie the knot you need? Just wondering.

Bo Diddly The best tensioning knot system I know of is the truckers hitch. Check that out and you should be good to go

I have a similar setup. Can you adjust the ridge line tension after you've set the Tatro tarp connectors in the event you left too much slack?
@MikaKise
@MikaKise 8 жыл бұрын
Hey! Yea I can definitely. Everything's adjustable even after fully setting up

i dont really see the advantage over the snakeskins vs just stuffing the tarp into the bag
@MikaKise
@MikaKise 7 жыл бұрын
Sayuas You'd have to experience snake skins to be able to compare both methods. For me and quite a number of people, snake skins provide more efficient way of setting up, packing up and keeping everything organised. Just depends on what you like to do and what gear you have. I've now changed my suspension from a continuous ridgeline to 2 lines which go from each end of the tarp the tree.

You're probably right, it's a less messy way of setting up the tarp. Wonder how much they weigh. What's the name?

Sayuas I think I got these from www.outdoortrailgear.com/cottage-industries/mountaingoatgear/mesh-tarp-storage-sleeves/ but yea, super light weight 21grams or something like that

I am using my superfly for the first time this weekend and was planning on doing the same. Glad I'm not the only one using 2 lines from each end of the tarp to the tree. Most all of the videos I've been watching have a continuous ridgeline which the pole mod goes on top of. How much do the poles crush the top of the tarp without the ridgeline to hold them up? Looks like you live somewhere tropical based on the orange trees growing in the background...which is why I guess you are considering using mylar on top. Just be careful - if a little wind picks up that stuff is going to be very loud and will likely keep you from getting any sleep. Loved how many times you said nipple.. especially the first time when you were struggling to find the right word to use on the guy-line pullout hahaha

biznatcheo Hahaa thanks for the comment! Yea the 2 line set up is awesome once you get some experience with hanging it! The poles don’t crush the top much, but even if it does in the wind, it doesn’t affect the width which is the main thing. Hahaa the blanket is loud but I kind of like it. My preference 😁

I feel like the pole tarp mods are a useless thing to carry with you, when you can just whittle a stick to suit this need in a minute.
@MikaKise
@MikaKise 7 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea too, nothing stopping anyone from doing that, I just prefer to have these handy because it has the same tension pulling the tarp apart every time without me having to do extra whittling. It will work with sticks though, just my preference =)

whittling a stick will take time, and setting up a camp in the rain would be unpleasant, but in fair weather would be ok,,,,
