I can't believe I have never seen a potato bug. Is was into bugs as a kid. I used to sit on a stool in front of a neighbors bush and check out the lace wing eggs, lady bug larva, and other critters. But never saw a potato bug. I thought you meant roly poly, pill bug,

I spent my childhood in Southern California and I've NEVER seen a potato bug in my life! We always thought another name for Rolly Pollys is Potato bug. That critter you showed looks more like a cricket. Did you ever go to the Ramona Pagent, Farmers Fair, or Delmar Fair? NGL I was feral myself.
