nah man. buy her a automatic one that isnt such a classic. shes a sweet kid, but thats too much truck for her, and its a stick. Last thing i need is another bumbling (sweet and kind yes) but bumbling airhead on the road driving way more horses than they can handle, operating a system that requires them to multitask when they have a hard time chewing gum and walking at the same time. seen it too much, seen it too often. Most recent case was with my cousin. she threw a fit when her father got her a nice toyota rav 4 instead of the manual v8 mustang she wanted. cried and screamed for a good 1 and a half while everyone was still there at the house for her birthday. Next day my uncle took the thing back and got the brat the car she wanted. Nobody in my family besides my dad and i know how to drive stick, and my dad being a dod contractor doesnt have enough time to wipe his own ass most days let alone help his manlet of a brother in law teach my cousin how to drive. I only really had time to test drive the car to make sure it was all in good condition and give her a quick crash course on how manual works because i work and have college, and cant spend my time 2 cities over teaching a 16 year old how to drive something she's not ready for when i got actual responsibilities that come with severe consequences both fiscally and mentally, upon incompletion. Taught her the difference between manual and automatic for a good 10-20 minutes. Taught her when the clutch is pressed and why, taught her you need to have the rpms at the right spot to switch or you are gonna stall because the engine won have enough go to keep turning over. Taught her not to ever shift from 4 to 2/1 (foreshadowing should be placed here) Taught her how to not stall at a stoplight. Total time maybe like 1 hour and 20 minutes of a how to drive stick crash course. I get a call the next day, the bright young girl decided she now fully understood the vehicle after one hour in it and pretty much 20 minutes behind the wheel, and decides she can go drive and show it off to her friends and boyfriend. She starts trying to show off her skills, money shifts right into one from 4. Gears shit out all over the street, she swerves and the left over momentum rips the cv axle apart as she slams the poor vehicle into the curb. She was ok, nobody got hurt, but boy oh fucking boy was that an expensive mistake. My uncle finally grew a set of balls after that and started disciplining her for once though. Her next car was a nice rusty piss yellow honda civic that used to be our grandpas before he go a nice new lexus. In my honest belief the majority of people shouldn't even be allowed to drive a golf cart, let alone a multi ton death machine capable of going faster than any living creature on land. Most drivers are not actually drivers, they are passengers even as the only person in the vehicle. its all they can do to keep it inside the lines. Its not like its a difficult thing to drive either, people are just so stupid now, its incredible.
