I can see your point about AD being made of glass, but Embiid I don't remember him being soft. If there is anything we should commend him for basically playing with one leg as he does not look the same out there yet he is able to put up 50 points and 46 points and is leading the leage in points per game for the playoffs at 37ppg playing hurt. You gotta respect him. I don't like the fact that AD took 1 shot in Game 2 second half and took 1 shot again in the second half after that injury in an elimination game. Looking at that replay it don't seem that bad. He could have still performed well. Yeah I agree with Kenyon Martin on this. Football players get hit way more harder than that.

I am not a doctor and probably neither are you, so just doing a surgery may not be what's the best option. Keep in mind that, while medicine has advanced very much and recovery is better than ever, this is still a serious form of intervention on your body. It's not a magical pill you take and feel better without possible repurcussions. It's usually the last option if nothing else works and as far as I know a lot of surgeries may, let's say, fix some immediate issue, but may hamper your athletic abilities in other ways. Who knows how we would be after surgeries and I am sure he has the best doctors, so lack of education isn't most likely a factor.

I’m an Occupational Therapist and Registered Functional Therapist and I can tell you that many shoulder injuries are caused by small forces in awkward positions. The rotator cuff is made of 4 relatively tiny muscles that keep the head of the humerus in a shallow concave surface called the glenoid fossa. It’s not like a hip, it’s shallow and it can be dislocated, torn, or even just a rotator cuff muscle can get pinched between the shoulder and the acromion. Look it up… it’s easy to injure. Then there’s this mentality that players should play through the pain… well, what if you cannot raise your hand? Sorry, you just can’t. Here’s an analogy… 4 workers with 4 ropes must raise a flagpole. They cannot move their feet but they can each vary their pull… they can raise it together. Now… remove one worker (one rotator cuff muscle)… now they can’t. Now bring back the 4th worker but put the base of the pole on a skateboard… now they can’t again. Now, if you want to call AD a liar… that’s just you calling him a liar. It’s possible… but it’s also possible that he’s injured on an old injury. Very possible! Ed Kaine

Yeah I tore my rotator doing overhead stationary barbell presses at planet fitness. Crazy things is I barely had any weight on (two 10lb plates), but was doing very high reps and, CLICK. I felt when it snapped with a sharp sting. I forced myself to stay in the gym and work that day. But for the next 10-12 months I was in constant pain while letting it heal naturally. I took a lot of natural supplements, and doing light workouts helped it rebuild naturally. But for the first 5 months I was in so much pain that I couldn't even sleep on that side 😢

Every time I got very fatigued, the stinger would come back along with other shoulder pains without any contact. I never got it checked out & would always tough it out. Again, only fatigue cause the pain to return, it didn't require contact. With me going through that, I'm not quick to judge AD's shoulder pains, only a doctor can. It looked soft for him to go down from something so weak, but if you can't relate to having shoulder pains, then you don't know.

In high school an over aggressive teammate crashed down on my thumb in a non-contact free throw drill. For several years afterwards I would get an excruciating stinger in the thumb catching simple passes, dribbling, etc. Several years later - as a U.S. Marine - the unstable thumb is x-ray’d and it’s discovered that it had been cracked and heeled improperly; I took a hard pass on the re-break surgery. All those years of having people think I was grimacing for attention! Don’t judge.

I haven't seen AD flop and complain like the 'king' very often. It's strange to see a near 7-foot monster go down like that and I'm sure he played it up a bit to stop the clock but it happened on a play that didn't really benefit him. To me this looks like nerve pain, probably from aggravating an existing injury. Anyone who has had a rotary cuff issue or pinched nerve in the shoulder knows how excruciating that can be. He tried playing, briefly went to the back to get shot up with the good stuff then mostly fell off of offensive for the remaining game. As much as I dislike the Lakers right now, I don't think you're giving the best guy on that team a fair shake here.

@@imstillyoshi I've had plenty of bad hits too that you don't really notice until later. I've also dislocated my knee and wrenched my shoulder simply making an awkward move to the ball which immediately sent severe pain down one side. I probably tore something and to this day that joint pops and cracks when moving around but fortunately hasn't caused any chronic pain (yet). As I said I'm sure laying on the ground was to ensure they stopped the game but don't underestimate shoulder injuries. Plus just a game or two ago he slammed what I think was the same shoulder into the base of the hoop. If it was James or any player notorious for this I'd agree but if you watch how it all played out I honestly think most of it was real.

It's not about how hard it looks, sometimes your body shuts down on you. See it in every sport. Sometimes the worst injuries don't look like much, but the huge hits does nothing to guys, they bounce right back up. That man didn't put his whole year into this to just give up while riding momentum, getting his numbers, and winning. He got hurt.

So ima break it down like this: He’s playing out of position. He’s not built to play to center. He’s a power forward. He plays with skill and finesse while centers typically clean the boards and get physical. AD has suffered multiple injuries over his career, so now you expect him to play the 5 and bulk up but don’t expect him to get hurt??? Height and weight matters in basketball and this is bound to happen to any forward or guard. Hell lots of people theory monte Ellis having a downfall in the league due to him getting banged up playing the 2 over the years of his run in the nba. I say all that to say: DO NOT BRING BACK DWIGHT, GO GET A DECENT CENTER AND PUT AD BACK AT THE 4

My first thought was maybe a shoulder dislocation or subluxation. It can happen again that easily if the person has a history of it and it was healed improperly. I don't know if Anthony does. Minutes later, I threw that idea out because the staff did not respond as if it were. A dislocation is out the window because we'd be able to see that when they zoomed in on him on the bench. Either way, they would've had him in the locker room to be sure there are no tears; especially since he couldn't lift the shoulder. Then if you watch him play afterward, he wouldn't move the arm much while on defense, but he did on offense. So it wasn't as serious as he showed.

As a young FF/PM I remember going on calls with young, healthy looking guys that were stuck on the floor whining like crazy about the back spasms they were having. We would sometimes joke (out of the patients ear shot) that maybe he needed a “man pill” and too bad we did not carry those in our med box. Fast forward years later when I had developed all sorts of back issues and I never joked about that again, and realized none of the older firefighters ever joked about or doubted someone’s back pain. Not a fan of AD but I will cut him some slack on his health issues.
