this was the first pinball I played that had multi ball, and for that reason, it will always be my favorite.

Love the game Randy! I see that Todd Tuckey has tought you well on how to play pinball with the glass off!😁 I own 2 machines myself, I have High Speed, & Pinbot. I have owned my High Speed since 1990, I bought it when I was 13. My Pinbot was in bad shape, & was going to be sold to someone that was going to scrap it 3 years ago. I got it for $700, & rescued it. It took me about a year but I went through it top to bottom, & it plays great. These games are a labor of love, keep up the great work! Hello from Phoenix Arizona❕🔥

I never thought about it, but I have played an awful lot of pinball with the glass off in my days...! A side effect of being the one fixing it I guess... I remember as a kid, breaking the corner off my playfield glass trying to slide it back in... Actually, I was lucky it was not tempered glass in that one, and it was a clean snap off... I was so upset and it wasn't like I could just get another glass easily back then... I have also had the very fine experience of picking up my playfield glass, from a leaning position on the wall, to have it suddenly totally disintegrate right in my hands, as I moved towards the machine! Thousands of little pieces everywhere, and a huge mess, but I didn't get cut at all. Just a very weird experience, which just happens sometimes for not apparent reason other then disturbing the glass which must have had some tiny defect to start the chain reaction! Ah; memories!

Lots of collectors and hobbyists have worked on these and think they know how to fix them, but a guy like you Randy is very valuable to the community, because you've actually OPERATED them which as you know is a whole different animal than having it in your house where you play it for 20 minutes then turn it off. Operating these machines on the boardwalk, you've seen stuff a home owner will never run across. I'm glad you decided to make these videos to share your unique perspective on repairing and working on these, very cool stuff man!

Very insightful Joe..! I am the field tech that has had to keep it all running on the spot, and doing it 50 years... I have seen most everything, and had to deal with it... I was on the Arcade Floor fixing games BEFORE solid state came alone, and I watched how things evolved, knowing the reasons why. All the Arcade Mechanics who were around when I was a kid starting, are long gone from Earth... Because I started at such a young age, I am still around, and carry all those years of experiences with me... When I was 15, high volume arcades loved when I fixed the games, because if I fixed something, that broke again a month later, I went further to modify it so that wouldn't happen again. I had color X Y monitors with vertical and horizontal transistors hanging out the back of the chassis on long wires, doubled and tripled I. Parallel to provide for their under rated capacities, and then if they finally failed, I could cut them off, and pop new ones on in a few minutes, instead of hours of pulling that chassis, and several times before my mods would finally blow. I adjusted timing of electro mechanical games so they played as fast or faster the solid state versions, and when you played one I modified, you knew it. Then, some one else would work in the game, and not understanding what I did, or why I did it, they would try to put it back as it was, and ruined it... I wouldn't even know until it broke again soon after, and I would tell the owners not to let anyone touch it after I went to that trouble. Often times when j HAD to create something to replace a board that was blown, no I e could ever fix it again but me... I kept them running, but then it was my responsibility... And many games I ended up buying because they had too much of me in them to let them get destroyed. It's a bond.

Thanks for that blast from the past! A couple army buddies and I played the crap out of it many years ago. I generally sucked, but they were both so good we rarely required more than a quarter to play all night. Cheers!

Williams was on such a roll back then... Black Knight, Pinbot, Taxi, Funhouse, and Whirlwind.... If I could own any 5 tables those would be the ones.

Thank you so much for restoring this magical machine! As a kid of the late 80's/early 90's, I was always fascinated by its sequel, Black Knight 2000. I didn't know it was a sequel at the time of course, but I was hooked (and as a 5 year old, I sucked at pinball, hah! ) Years later I discovered the original, this masterpiece of a machine. I can't wait to see it this summer!

The ultra pinball I have in the Retro arcade also plays the 2000 version... To me, i don't like the 2000 version because there is only 1 black knight, and no later version could ever be better... Often true with any sequel of anything; you can never reach the level of the original!

Black Knight was the first pinball machine designed with a multi level playfield. It is a very desirable and is in many collectors collections. It’s great to hear it will be in the Retro Arcade for all to enjoy. Thanks for sharing your story and knowledge about your beautiful Williams Black Knight. If I didn’t already have 40 machines in my collection I wouldn’t mind adding a Black Knight next to my Gottlieb Count Down, Gottlieb Joker Poker and Ball Playboy solid state pinball machines.

Money is only to purchase necessities, and buy happiness... My needs are simple, and what I do makes me happy... I have absolutely no desire to go on a cruise. I am also alone, and going places alone is not a necessity; when you share life with someone, there is far more reason to do things like that.
I LOVE my Gottlieb Haunted House Pinball Machine!
