No joke, I had a break-in when I was home alone once when I was 18 and I'm a collector of very VERY sharp weapons so I grabbed a sword and shouted aggressively "get the f*** out of my house! I am armed and will use lethal force" then I very quietly walked through my entire house to make sure no one else was there. Scariest night of my life.

If Mat had looked out the window in the parents bedroom at the beginning he would have seen the man wondering around his house. Then he could've seen him again while he was eating as you see his feet going up the stairs. IIRC there is one more moment you can see him before everything goes down. These episodes are combinations of actual peoples stories.

Because otherwise, the guy hiding in the parents' room could easily hear you closing your door, realise where you are and come for you when you're doing homework/standing around - unless they had some different plan.

my mom came to my room to see why I was laughing. She did agree with me that he wouldn't be judged for buying an ice scraper, no matter how old he is. Just because _he_ knows he should've already had one doesn't mean anyone at the store does; ice scrapers break sometimes. Assuming the cashier cares about what he's buying (and from experience, they probably don't) they wouldn't jump to conclusions like he seems to think they would

Having to wake up at 3 AM to be at work at 6AM during a snowstorm so I have time to shovel a pathway, dig out my car, and take a hot shower really sucks. Especially since I work a job where I take 25,000 steps. Then I have to come home and shovel the snow that piled up while I was at work. So so tiring 💤

@@rosea1505 see, when it snows in NC we just shut down for a week. After a day or so the top snow layer is just ice so it’s freaking lethal. The snow storm they’re talking about had ice everywhere for five days. In the south snow just means very pretty death.

When I used to housesit for people, I'd bring a kit including bells to hang from all the doorknobs and a few self-defense items like a taser or baton. You can get a little paranoid at someone else's house, especially if strangers come to the door unexpectedly or there's unexplained noises. Luckily I stayed safe, but I had a lot of strange experiences and scares.

Not many things frighten me, except how your life can be completely destroyed from the deranged cruelty of a stranger. Whether it be through home invasion, murder, or sexual/physical assault, it terrifies me to know that my life could be irrevocably changed in an instant because of a single person’s actions.

Being a person from Wisconsin, hearing Mirror Mat say that he does not have an ice scraper and used a dustpan, with no gloves, it honestly made me sad.. if I were him, I would have just used a plastic card from my wallet.
