Great impression of the Burmese railways. Waiting in Kalaw for the train that will take us some 40 km in 3 hours and that is delayed by 3 hours.Seeing the railway station life, the waiting, the selling and the activity explosion once the train arrives. Understanding why foreigners must be present 30 prior to scheduled departure to buy a $3 upper class ticket. Seeing the train waggle slowly through the beautiful countryside. Watching life in upper and ordinary class. Finally arriving...

Being here for last 5 yrs in Myanmar, it is one of the most pristine tourist friendly country with top class hospitality and safe. I have passing thru kalaw many times and also in Inle lake many time. But never used this cute train journey. Next time( of course after covid19 finishes ) will try for sure ...Now they are upgrading all railway tracks & coaches in collaboration with JICA. For train journey in future wil be more comfortable surely ... Thanks for video Jan Van Bekkum...

It very rich in sources but very poor living standards but they are happy, mayanmar GDP is 85% from agricultural products, they no 1 in the world in quality rice exports and organic agriculture, it self satisfaction and happiness people

Excellent video, depicting rural Myanmar so nicely. Rural Myanmar reminds us of rural India of seventies. It is very beautiful. It is our friend and closest neighbor. Hence, it is our responsibility to help Myanmar in modernisation of its railways as well as in other fields. I love Myanmar.

Jadi inget masa lalu, kalo di negeri +62 ini kondisi kereta api tahun 70-80 an keretanya tanpa kaca jendela dan masih banyak pedagang asongan sekarang sudah tidak ada pedagang asongan di dalam kereta atau di stasiun.

Omg 2012 still such sick Railway system in Myanmar I read so much on this country in stories novels by greatest Bengali writer Sarat ch Chatterjee ..Dilapilated rusty Railway System existed in India 40 years ago but now its so developped And one the oldest dveloped Railway system in the world ..Where will Myanmar go in future in this Internet age ??
