Since Myanmar and Khmer are included in Indosphere cultures so similar foods aren't surprise due to cultural exchanges during ancient.

Myanmar culture & Cambodian culture are closely related I believe they may share the same ancestral lines.

The stuff we apply on our face is call ‘thanakha’, it’s paste made from ground bark. It actually helps our skin keep cool since the weather in Myanmar is usually hot. There’s no special reason or occasion needed in order to wear tanakha, some people wear it everyday. It basically almost like a form of makeup here! It’s also a very big part of our Burmese culture ☺️ ( hope this answer your question and sorry in case there’s some grammar mistake, english isn’t my first language )
