Grew up watching Anthony Bourdain on Discovery Travel and Living, helped give me a lifetime hunger for travel and searching for the ephemeral joys and excitement of reaching for what’s just over the horizon. I don’t normally feel much at the death of celebrities but I think it’s true in saying that the lives of everyone who enjoyed his work and appreciated his intellect and passion for cuisine will be all the poorer for his passing.

Tea was eaten as a vegetable for thousands of years before it was used for drinking

I want to visit these places and try some of these wonderful things, but the bare-hands preparation stops me in my tracks. Food poisoning is a horrible kind of sick. Mr. Bourdain built up a tolerance, I'm sure. If I saw the stuff boiling on the stove for a while first, then I could relax and enjoy eating it.
