Good tips, Ed. Most important thing to do is when you get stuck is STOP and ASSESS and not bury yourself deeper! Been stuck many times and most of the times if you stop and work the problem, you can get out on your own. Also been pulled out a few times too!

Thanks so much for this video! I stuck my Kubota BX2610 pulling out a tree root in the soft muddy rain-drenched ground on the California Central Coast (Paso Robles, CA). I should have waited for things to dry out after our big storms. I tried everything including using the loader as a jack so I could push wood beneath the front wheels. I gave up then watched this video. I came right back out even though it was nearly dark, and used the loader "biting" maneuver to back the tractor up. It worked immediately! In three "bites" I was out before the tractor was even fully warmed up! Thanks My Cluttered Garage!!

Good tips Ed. I agree with Brad@ Piney Grove Homestead. Stop and check things out before you get buried. That is one of the reasons that I leave my loader on when I mow my pasture. There is over 100 acres that I mow with my Kubota L2501. There are stumps, holes, rocks, ditches. You name it, that obstacles is hidden in the weeds and brush just waiting to ambush me. Having the loader on has saved me from damaging the tractor and having to go get a pickup or another tractor to pull me out. It does make it more difficult to see but well worth the trade off for me. Thanks Ed. See you tomorrow night 👍🏻

Thank you for the demonstration of how to get out of STUCK. When I worked Union sewer Jobs on mostly Case 580-C ( shows you how old am) One Case I ran, you had to engage the Diff. lock just to go anywhere, a really messed up backhoe. The front bucket curl/pushed, a great tool for walking backwards, many, many times for me, in my Rainy State. Every time reposition with my personal 1900 pound Dynahoe-190. The two wheel drive one.( For me back in the day, just the operator of them they were beasts. Backhoe end part of mainframe of tractor) If I am digging in my garden I use the backhoe to push me to the side.Or push me forward to my next close dig. I have been stuck many times, pulling the garden dirt pile up around back tires (am then stuck) so I always have to push the Beast forward to flat level smooth ground outside my garden area.

Two tricks I've used is for tractor with rims you can slide a chain through. First is using a 4x4 and a chain to walk tractor in deep mud. The best is using a recovery strap take one end and hook it to itself. Then take the other end and tie it off to something it will act like a wrench when wrapping around the tire.

Great tips! I got my BX23S stuck in mud just off my driveway. ‘No problem!’, I thought, ‘I have the loader and the backhoe on. I can get this out! I’ve done it before!’ Well it didn’t matter what I did with the loader and the backhoe and differential lock; she wouldn’t get out of the slippery mud. Disappointed, I finally hooked a rope to my truck and pulled it out. I felt like a failure! 😂 A note that for the BX series of tractors at least, the brake is on the driveshaft before it comes out of the transmission. As a result, if you’re in 2WD, you have brakes on two wheels, and if you’re in 4WD, you have brakes on all 4 wheels. But it’s like the transmission locking the driveshaft of a car; if I lift an axle and spin one wheel, the opposite wheel will turn in reverse.

Thanks Ed- Great tips; I have used them all - including making use of the backhoe and its outriggers as others have mentioned. The rear wheels of the tractor can be lifted using the outriggers, allowing gravel or similar traction material to be shoveled in. It is prudent when using the loader bucket to “walk the tractor” to keep the ground contact of the bucket edge as even as possible - even if some earth has to be displaced. If only one side of the bucket is contacting the ground when performing the “walking maneuver”, it is possible to bend the quick attach cross tube on a Kubota.

ive always been told when i first started working with big logging equipment is to know when to stop its better to stop and call for help rather than keep making it worse the thing is this machine doent weigh a fifth of the weight of the equipment i ran and there is a diffrence on 3 rotations of the tire if you start getting stuck just stop and see why you getting stuck ive been pulled out multible times because the machine was getting stuck and the first time it was a heavy pull the other times basically the pulled some inches and i was driving out beacuse if you dont have solid ground under the soft its better to stop than keep trying its okey to try the tools you have in the machine like 4wd and diffs and loader and it they dont work out stop youl can pull out a tractor that size with a pindr and chain and two people so what i want to say is its better to call help and waste max a hour and cost maybe a sixpack of beer than be stuck to belly and need to call some expencive help

Here's another trick: Let's say you're stuck in the mud and you want to drive out (forward). First back up as far as you can, maybe dig out any mud, then take a bale of hay or straw, break it up into little flakes, place in the trench in front of the tires, put in a higher gear and drive out. It always works unless the tractor is hung up and can't move.

I really enjoy your videos. You explain things in a way that I can completely understand. I have a new B2601 and live in the NE. So I called and requested chains for the tires from my Kubota dealer. They sold me DooB063 chains for the rear tires. They were pretty heavy duty. During the very first snow storm the rear tire came off the rim and all the calcium went everywhere. What a mess not to mention an expense to get his fixed. Very next storm the other side did the same thing! Any thoughts on this?
@MyClutteredGarage
@MyClutteredGarage Жыл бұрын
Oh man that’s rough! My first thought is that maybe the tire pressure was too low? It sure seems like it would take an awful lot of stress in a tire to dislodge it from the rim. Unless somehow the chain wedged between the tire and rim?

I’m 13 and often find my self gettin stuck on my dads tractor. My dad taught me the loader trick when I was 9. I now have my own tractor that was my paw paws. I received it in his will when he died. It’s a 2 wheel drive 35 hp tractor with no power steering and no loader. To get it unstuck I put it in low and put a 2x4 in the direction I need to go. So if I’m going forward I put it in front of the back tire long ways so the tire will grip on it and pull its self out of the mud or ditch. I looked at a loader for it but the front axle won’t hold it. The brand is farmtrac. Which I get picked on a lot because it’s a “cheap knock off ford” then I ask them what brand is their tractor in which they usually respond with “ I don’t have a tractor” and the one other kid I know with a tractor has a John Deere 830 and he doesn’t pick we are best friends. Goes to show jealousy is real

Hey Cale, a tractor is a great tool regardless of the brand. My first tractor was a Ford 9N. It wasn’t great but it was fun. My next was a John Deere 2020. I wanted to find a front end loader for it but it didn’t have power steering. Enjoy your Paw Paws gift. That was very thoughtful. You’ll have other tractors that will be better than this one, but none will ever be as meaningful. Thank you for sharing! -Ed

My Dynahoe 190 is 19000 pounds NOT 1900 SORRY for that very heavy Backhoe in 1978. Almost to the 9000 hour mark on meter. They just need Hydraulic Seal repack work. But having a construction type Backhoe stand alone for especially the work you do. They might not be used a lot but boy when you need to remove tree STUMPS on your property they can't be beat. Then you just leave your box spreader on all the time on your smaller tractor.

The best part about getting stuck is 95% of the time its already in 4 wheel drive. A compact tractor in the hands of the "home-loaner" from day ONE ( 90% of the time) is in 4 WD FOREVER. By having R-4 tires traction is lost once a full rotation occurs, R-14s in 2 turns ,R-3 ( turf) anytime, R-1s traction lose occurs ONLY when the tractor is Buried---REALY bad situation. The limited "bucket curl" of ALL small kubota's ( no amplifying bucket-linkage assembly) is almost no help!. / just get off & go get some other equipment. My "experience " says just cruze around in 2 wheel drive & if you CAN'T WALK IT , just don't go there. The "worst ones" happen with the loader bucket is overloaded & tractor is all "twist-o-flexed " way far away from other resources. Thank you for the great Video Sir and happy safe tractoring. Best wishes with all your endeavours.

This guy is goofy and assumes everyone who owns a tractor has a front-end loader and 4x4. He shouldn't even be on a tractor let alone making a video about a tractor. Raising the PTO to its highest point makes the front end lighter which defeats the front 4x4. He doesn't even know any better to get out of the rain.
