In this video I use the DeWalt Flexvolt DCCS677 20" Chainsaw and compare it against the older Flexvolt DCCS670 16" Chainsaw. So if you are wondering if it's worth the extra $$ then watch the video and you should be able to tell which one will fit your needs.

Great review! I have the 16" that I put a 18" bar and chain on and it works great. I work for a tree service and I grab it the most. It quite and convenient. A d it's off when you are done with the cut.

The 20inch is the Dcs677 it has a wow more powerful motor than the 16 or the other rone with the 18inch motor. The 20inch with a 15ah battery has 4hp and it's a beast the most powerful battery powered ever made!

Very helpful! I don't need a chainsaw that often so when my 16" Dewalt is a little too small, my Husky gas usually won't cooperate until I spend a day or two fighting with it (and usually end up taking it to a shop). Looks like this 20" Dewalt is just what I need.

Yeah, it's a great saw if you have flexvolt batteries already. If I was starting from the ground up in OPE I'd definitely look at Ego and others because the batteries are expensive and they eat through them!
@ligngood3787
@ligngood3787 4 ай бұрын
@@MyFortressConstruction Even the 16" does eat through them fast. I have way too many Dewalt (and Milwaukee) batteries to switch but it seems this may be the most powerful battery chainsaw on the market anyway.

I really appreciate the comparison, man. I have the 16" coming in today, but I found out about the 20" after it had already shipped. Think I'll take it back to Home Depot and get the 20" later. Could you recommend a good 16" bar and chain if I wanted to use this saw as a 16" on occasion?

Well, both the 16" and 20" DeWalt bars are interchangeable, and Oregon has a 16" bar and chain combo that you could use on the 16" so I assume it's also compatible with the 20". It's part number is 623000. There are probably more but those are what I know work.

I had only used it on a few trees before this, so the chain might be a little duller, but not by much from the factory sharpening it came with.

9ah I believe. I did get a 12ah at some point but I don't think I was using it in this video.

The dewalt 54v chainsaw is ment for cuts over 100mm
@MyFortressConstruction
@MyFortressConstruction 6 ай бұрын
100mm/4 inches? Do you mean 100cm/40 inches? It wouldn't be able to clear that though since the usable amount of chain is less than 50cm/20". I would say that the chainsaw is made for trees up to 30"/76cm. Beyond that it could do it, but it wouldn't be happy.

No I mean it's for big cuts over 100mm it has a slow cutting speed not ment for twigs

I have an old version of this, and I'm telling you the chains they use on this saws are crap. I bought half price chain with bigger tooths, and it cut two times faster than the oregon one...

One thing I've learned about electric chainsaws is that if they're stalling, you're forcing them too hard. Let the saw do its magic.

Yeah, it takes some practice to find each saw's sweet spot. The Milwaukee had more torque than the DeWalt 16" so I could push it harder, but the DeWalt spins faster so it cuts faster but you have to be light handed with it.

@MyFortressConstruction 2 күн бұрын
It still leaks, but not near as much as the gen. one 16". All of my saws have leaked bar oil in the past though the 16" was the worst. Now I'd say it's about half as much.

WOW, WHY NOT JUST BUY A 20 INCH BAR AND CHAIN AND PUT IT ON THE 16 INCH SAW INSTEAD OF BUYING THE WHOLE 20 INCH COMBO? SAVE YOURSELF MONEY. OOOO DIDN'T THINK OF THAT.

Great idea, but I buy liquidation so cost isn't quite the same as going to a store and buying off the shelf. I want to say the 20" (bare tool) was $100 and I like having both because the 16" is more maneuverable. But swapping out bars/chains is good too.

I would like to say the 20inch Dcs677 is wow more powerful than the 16inch bar one if he would have used a 15ah battery in the Dcs677 it would have cut alot faster! Could have bought the entire kit off ebay with a battery charger and saw with case for around $460.

I had one and yeah, that saw had torque, but I'm content with where flexvolt is headed. The M18 batteries kept overheating in my big tools. Went to flexvolt where the higher voltage helps with heat dissipation.

Lol you do realize that Dcs677 will destroy any battery saw Milwaukee makes. Especially with a 15ah battery that thing is a beast my brother has 1 Milwaukee m18 and the older dewalt dcst972 the newer 16inch version I have the Dcs677 with the 15ah battery it kills both of them but the dcst972 kills the milwaukee. It ain't even close!
