Agreed. I think it's because the channel only has 46k subscribers. We should start sharing these kinds of channels with our friends and families on Whatsapp. If every current subscriber could get one person to subscribe the 46k would double in a day.

Best interview I have Listened to in a very long time. Two African men, from two different eras talking about their experiences in business. Wow! I can only be humble and learn from them. I like the fact that Ntate Maponya shared his secret to his success: simply put it's respect for all, regardless of class...

Great interview! RSA needs to look outside of only Tertiary/University education as the only way in which to change young peoples lives or uplift people from poverty. The creation and establishment of schools and systems that garner a learning secondary skills and/or trade skills - is in my opinion something that we do not champion enough. Not everyone can go to University or achieve the standard required to get into university. But having said that, everyone can learn a skill and should have the opportunity to change their circumstance.

Thanks Vusi for walking the talk and telling the story of those who have gone before us, who made it against all odds. I didn't know of Maponya till a day ago when some American was watching a video of Two Rivers Mall in Kenya - my country - and called it the biggest in Africa. It sparked a debate, South Africa in the comments section spoke of Maponya Mall and so I said let look for his story. Funny enough, i'd attempted to watch this video when you posted it but I lost interest real quick because I didn't know him at the time.

I once read in a manuscript I was editing by author Chris Mureithi and he said that you should ask the person you want to spend your life with what their vision is so that you find out if your visions can align because most couples that got divorced still love each other so love isn't the important question, it is a matter of vision

So convenient for Mr. Maponya to claim ANC activist position. With all due respect. He did not have to claim allegiances to 'that' movement for him to appear as if he was a political activist--for him to have an inspirational story to tell. He has been called by some critics as a conformist who earned his wealth while others were giving their lives for the liberation of ALL. What this position does, in part, is to reduce him to a mere politically connected businessman whose wealth (especially in the post-apartheid SA) is associated with the ANC aligned 'petty' entrepreneurs. He is an inspiration, and he must just be careful not to reduce his importance by claiming allegiancies with the ANC Thank you, Mr. Thembekwayo for this video.

I'm not an ANC person but I see nothing wrong with Maponya's confession of being an ANC activist. In fact his passion, determination and love for people dominates the interview so much that I don't remember him as an ANC activist but as a good wise citizen. I also believe Maponya was a political activist in his own right, in a sense that not everyone had to go to exile or to war to fight, imagine if we had 20 more Maponya's in all provinces, while others go to war/exile they stay behind to build malls, schools etc. I respect your opinion but I think we all decode things differently.

To acknowledge what or who brought you an opportunity for enlightenment and liberation is not wrong ,it only means you are aware of what gave you the drive, for some it maybe that they want to be associated or aligned with it in order to get praise or recognition but to others it is to acknowledge the experience and the teachings that came with it whether the organization still represent their initial vision or it has turned against the initial goal. You cannot turn away the lesson at that particular moment, space or time... It's what you take out of the situation that's important
