Күн бұрынHello IT Pros, this is Alvendril! In this Video I show How to reset the Bios Password on a Dell Optiplex 3010.
UPDATE:The Bios/UEFI is a firmware that is stored in a Chip on a motherboard and it is the first piece of Code that runs on a Computer.
When you make changes on the Bios, these changes are not stored on the Bios itself, but on a Memory Chip called CMOS. Therefore in reality you Reset the Password on the CMOS not The Bios.
However, because of the common lingo in the tech support world BIOS is more broadly used.

You officially a god to me. I spent hours and watched dozens of useless videos trying to figure this out. Hello JD4x4, thanks for the comment! Is the position of the 3 pins the same as in the video and next to the 3 pins there should be some letters "PSWDCLR", is that the case? Do you see the "Dell Security Manger" message every time the computer is turned on? If that's not the case, then even though you have a Dell Optiplex 3010, it might have a different motherboard model. The fastest way to reset the password is to take out the CMOS battery, that small coin-like watch battery that every motherboard has. Take it out for around 15-30 min and then put it back. That should reset any passwords and other configurations like the date. @@MyITWorkshop Yes, the layout, location, & lettering was exactly the same on my 3010 SFF built in 2013. I had tried removing the CMOS battery for 1 hr. but it did not clear the pwd, so I'm grateful to be able to finally update my bios from A09 to A22!

How can you make it where you can make any changes to the bios without having to always pulling the jumper pin every time?

Hello, The jumper in the video is to reset the Bios password or admin password. If no changes are save on your bios I’d think the issue is the CMOS battery, a coin like, round battery, that every motherboard has. Try replacing it. Specially when the computer is old, that battery stop proving power and not saving configurations in the BIOS. Hope it helps Thanks for the comment!

Do you know how to reset OptiPlex 3080 micro? The reset jumper seems to not exist for this model...

Hello NoiD, I checked the manual for that model: dl.dell.com/topicspdf/optiplex-3080-desktop_owners-manual_en-us.pdf if you go to page 50, zoom in on the motherboard, you will see a blue jumper in the lower left part. I think that'd be the one to reset the password. Hope it helps Thanks for the comment!

Pulled the jumper; plugged in pwr for 15-20 seconds. Replaced the jumper. Now my Power supply doesn’t even come on; WTF?

How do I fix my Dell Optiplex 3010 It's showing "Alert! Service Mode Hamper is set. To Continue press F1 key To Change setup option press F2 key To run onboard diagnostics press F5 key" on start. I don't like it 😓😓😓😓 Please help.

Hi, It depends on the model. Something you can try is removing the cmos battery and leave it out for around 30 min, then put it back. Again, it depends on the model, on some this method works, on others don’t. Thanks for the comment!
