I tried your first point of advice, about timing yourself and listening to music to fit the mood of the story, and that helped so much! I never thought I could come up with such amazing ideas on the spot like I did, and I have you to thank for it. Seriously, I looked over a lot of stories I wrote over the past few years, and they usually included the basic shounen troupes and cliches or were just GOD AWFUL and cringey, to say the least. But my latest project is something I know I can devote myself and I know that this is MY story. And people can say I am lazy about many things, but manga is one thing I take seriously. Thank you, once again, for knocking some inspiration into me and I hope I'll be in the manga world with ya! P.S. Kamehameha B*tches!

omg, making a story backwards happens to me all the time, because I usually create small stories starting from a random scene that came to my mind while I 'm doing something that end getting me inspired, like, listening to a new song, or seeing my brother making a cool pose or moviment, then I imagine a character doing something similar and want to create a story for that character XD I even have a fun story with this, involving my brother wearing a snowboarding mask with sunglasses over it and making the peace sign with his hand and I creating a character and a plot based on that image. It was really funny XD But besides the short little stories, when it comes to write seriously, my main problem is my patched schedule. Writing becomes secundary =/

That's awesome ♡ but you'll see that once you create enough little stories involving the same characters that eventually you'll be able to patch them together to make a whole story ♡

You're adorable! ☺️ you have no idea how many people you are inspiring and motivating right now. You are a pioneer of American mangakas. I love the gentle and friendly way in which you explain everything. 😋 i have a question (hopefully a future video): how do you find and maintain a personal art style and how do you avoid changing too much? What do you do so your characters look like themselves every time?

I clicked on the video to actually get through my writer's block,then I realised those tips wrre actually aplicable for life pbs too. For instance: for people who are tired of trying to achieve something they want and to deal with the fear of failure,and for this reason procrastinate,do smth else (a bit like me rn by watching this vid)--the try to feel the mood does it for me. And it's applicable im so many things in life! Gish, gotta take time to take in consideration all the possibilities of application🤔 And the end of story tip is actually pretty comforting.For life life application,that is to say.

This actually really helps. I never really thought about it that way before, and now that I look at it, you're right. Spending time with the story, is very important. I've had this character in my head since I was 11 years old, and I've been trying to write her story since. But I've always kept running into writer's block. I think a lot of that is because, I was drawing inspiration from other things that I liked. Which there is nothing wrong with that, cuz in a way it helps to motivate us. But there is a point of being inspired, and then straight on making your characters like the ones that already exist, which is not a good thing. So I think spending time with your characters and actually getting to know them on a personal level might actually help in developing other characters. Cuz then you can see why your character is drawn to that particular character, and what it is about them that is drawing your character to them. And the more you look into it, the more you can see those characters developing into their own person. So watching this video it helped me realize, that though I've may have been dedicated to this character for the last 12 years of my life, I may not be spending enough time with her to really develop her story. And you're right. A lot of the times it is pure laziness, and that never gets anything done. The story never comes out right, it gets put on hold, even sometimes for years, and you end up losing that feeling of the story and why you started it in the first place. Your tips really helped me realize that and that I need to spend more time with my character and get to know her more on a personal level. To the point where I know her as well as I know myself. And in doing so, I know that I can develop a good story that other people will enjoy reading, as much as I enjoyed creating it. And I wanted to thank you for that. So thank you. I look forward to your other videos and hope you keep doing what you do. Kristen.

Thank you very much for your help! :) I am currently writing a story (not the first time that I do, it's the fourth that I write) but I have so many ideas in mind and it's hard to make the link! Besides this story came from another I had to leave behind, but even though I try'm never satisfied with what I write, I do not quite feel that spark. I do not know that you would recommend about that but now I saw your video, I think it's good to see what we have, that is, not to fall into the temptation of being influenced by other things. There is little better.

And ooooh, in regards to the pages question you asked mw, I have videos on this very issue, and I explain that the number of script pages versus number of manga pages will vary depending on how you plan out the pages and what bis happening on each page. Most times, one script page can end up being 5 manga pages, while other times it comes out to just 2 pages of manga when drawn out. It all depends.+youngstert

Sometimes when we force ourselves to put too much time into something too soon (in this case, dedicating an hour to writing when you're not used to it) it can be overwhelming, and you're less likely to work on it again tomorrow. As of right now, I'm at a climax, but stumped on my story. I work six days a week (any where between 6-13 hours a day) , and I am looking for a new house, I give myself at LEAST an hour a week to work on my story, but I've come a part where I don't know what to do next. I have a choice in mind for the end, but I really like to just flow with my story. When I get into the mood of writing, I unplug my internet and can write for hours, but because of how much stress I am under with looking for a new place and working so much, I can't get back into the swing of things. I also want to make my story into a manga, so I have to add on extra time of creating the characters; on paper. My story ideas are pulled from a variety of Manga, Anime;, Novels, TV shows, and my own ideas. When I had writer's block a bit ago, same story, I went back reread my story and added another chapter in the middle of the story, which made me be able to add on to where I left off. I'm going to try listening to music, and free writing. Thank you so much for the idea, I'm definitely subscribing.

Cause #2 is a big one for me. I'm not dedicated enough yet. I love to workout and play video games. So I think I really do have to dedicate time to fit into my own schedule. Heck, I might just take a notepad with me to the sushi bar I love going to every weekend and try there. Can't drink as much sake as I'd like to though haha. Maybe a Starbucks. :P Also, dayum you went THERE with the laziness! It's true though! Thanks for the vid!

OMG ABSOLUTELY! :D I didn't mention this in the video, but I make a habit of traveling with a sketch book and a note book because inspiration can hit at any time! ♡ Also, some ppl feel anxious if they have to stay in one spot while they write, so it may help to work on your writing in the park or (as you mentioned) Starbucks ♡ Good luck, dear! :D

What happens when you're writing episodes or like you know just plots for individual novels.basically chapter books
@steventran2412

I spent 2-3 hours making a chapter 😅 is that good enough? I have a question can powers be copyrighted like can you have characters with similar power to other characters from other shows? Example in Fullmetal alchemist there's a villian with the power to turn things into bombs but in JoJo's bizarre adventure theirs also a villian who can turn things into bombs is that okay?
@MyMangakaLIFE
@MyMangakaLIFE 5 жыл бұрын
Try to stay away from things you've seen other stories do. EVERYTHING in a story is copyrighted (powers included) Like you can never have an attacked called the "Kamehameha" (DBZ reference). If you reference an attack from a manga or choose an attack name inspired by an existing attack, people will think you copied other stories )and if the authors agree, they may sue you). The villains you named may have similar powers but they must have been done sooo differently that it was not seen as straight-up copying. But if the stories had more things in common with each other... the author of the older story may think "hmm... this Manga has waaay too many similar details to my creation... I may need to take legal action." Inspiration happens. You're inspired to create Manga because you were inspired. However, do NOT purposely take from existing stories. Try to be creative and create your own unique things♡ +Maran Glin

Really love your videos cuz you don;t do just how to draw things. Maybe in a future video you'll do a... I don't know... I would really want to hear your opinion about anime/manga industry, because nowadays we hear or see most of the art directors or whatever they are complaining about the industry. In a way I kind of understand why (you can't compare something like The rose of Versailles with any nowadays show), but it's just that I feel such a negative vibe about this subject, what makes millions of dollars in reality. Anyway, good luck ^_^

I have a bit of a funny story for you, since it involves your story. ok so. My fiance doesn't read manga. He wont even read my own story, because manga/comics just don't interest him, and he finds them boring. So, I received Volume 2 of Sacred the other day. I was deep into reading it, and got to the middle of the book (When the freaky stuff with Sh**o and C*c*e*o and that freaky stuff{ < avoiding spoilers for others lol}), and suddenly, behind me I hear my fiance whimper "Oh no! Poor Sheko!!" Apparently he really likes Sacred too, but will never admit it lol

my main writers block is not having a center. and not having the time or skill to write the story down. I think of a plot for a flash of a second, and if I like it? I work on it for weeks, building the characters, plot setting, and such. and I do the first page, and another story pops into my head, or something comes up. and I remember every single story, I prob have over 20 now XD. I've only been making up these story's for about 2 years. XD

+MC GEM That's the mind of an artist XD I create a ton of side stories too, but I just write them all down, work on a rough outline and plot for them, but then put most of my focus and time into one or two. The stories I choose to focus on will be developed and nurtured first, and once they're finished (or close to it) I'll work on the others. Right now I'm publishing my series "Sacred" (link in video description) which is sold worldwide, and because I am a or king on this story the others will need to wait. I think it's fun to have multiple stories, but with a little discipline gku can focus on just one or two and finish them ♡

You can't really teach someone how to write a story ^__^;; You can only help them organize their ideas and get through writer's block as I have in this video. People may claim they can teach you how to write a story but all they're doing is stating obvious things we all need to do as writers. Being able to write means being able to tap into your imagination, creativity, and storytelling skills; those are things you can never teach. +Baby Ghetto

I sort of cover that as the #1 problem (mentioning that if you're watching more Netflix than working on your writing...etc.), stating that you need to take your work more seriously, have more discipline, and put yourself on a schedule. And chances are, if you're not able to focus on your writing that you may have one of the other problems mentioned in my video as well: you haven't developed your characters enough, don't spend enough time writing or thinking about your characters to be emotionally invested and connected to your work etc. But as I mentioned before, these are the top 7 reasons for Writers block, based off of the ppl I've met who attend my author workshops, and the ppl I've met at conventions :) Theses aren't the ONLY reasons out there~

+Mad Gallade Yes, that is weird ^__^;; As a creator, it is important to be aware of what has been done before so that you can create freely and know what untouched elements you can explore in your work (or include your spin on a familiar topic etc). Personally, I have created over 11 stories and I can safely say that I've never heard of any stories touching what I've covered in these stories ♡ It's important to be aware. I suppose it is something to take more seriously with age :)
