The reality is the market didn't support it. They constantly lost money and tax payers had to keep bailing them out. It's sad but it's reality. Our population is changing too. To one that buys cheap imports or expensive imports. The majority now don't care about supporting local manufacture, only what they can get cheap. The "saddest" part is that Holden and Ford were behind on the international scale in terms of quality but over the last so many years they really did start building some very decent cars worthy of export.

Fair call by ford and Holden to shut down sedan manufacturing, nobody buys them anymore. Everyone buys 4x4’s these days.

And if your partner was flying aeound one of the most iconic and dangerous tracks in the world at an average 200kmph, youd be crying in happiness to knowing its just about to finally stop after 6 hours of their life being in risk. Knowing the happiness theyd experiance. The achievments he made. The money, the gifts, prizes, fans. Everything would bring a tear to your eye. Most think its, JUST racing.. but these people live racing. Its not only their passion but their jobs also. At some points, it may feel like just another day at the job. We all act like everyone else has such a cool job but in reality we all find out jobs stressful and difficult. Its life. Great win. Great to see the last of true aussie holden win the great race. And with finess. Good work david you deserved it

Essentially, yes. Both are prototype series, with all cars having custom tubular steel trellis frames, and having no component that you can buy from a new car dealer except badges & light lenses. V8 stupor cars can't drive over speed humps because of front air dams & side skirts that make them non-compliant with ADRs for ground clearance.
