The leg of the vice is supposed to be standing on the floor. That is what takes all the beatings a blacksmith can give it. It takes the weight ofthe vice and what it is holding and blows of the hammer. Nice restoration. It is a leg vise.

Muchas gracias !! en el video puedes ver que la atornille al metal de la mesa y la pata la soldé y luego atornille al tubo de la mesa , esa mesa pesa mas de 300 k te aseguro que va a aguantar todas las palizas que se le den 😜

Есть у меня такие. Покойный друг подарил. Каждый день походишь к ним и вспоминаешь. Я в долгу не остался- подарил ему токарный 1 к 16. Часто приходил к нему и заразился токарным делом- купил себе 1 к 62. Какое это удовольствие работать на токарном !

Pensé que le iba a implementar unas mordazas mas bien delgadas de acero templado con estrías para mayor agarre, pero si es por mantener la originalidad de la prensa, está bien! Magnifico trabajo, felicitaciones!!

Muchas gracias !!! si le ponemos mordazas a esto ya no me serviría para lo que fue diseñado que es agarrar metal candente y golpearlo y si tuviera estrías me marcaria las piezas , por eso no se les hicieron las mordazas ...

Me encantan ese tipo de tornillos de banco,tengo uno un poco más pequeño que también restauré,era básicamente chatarra pero después de algunos días de trabajar en el ahora es totalmente funcional,disfruté mucho su restauración,igual que disfruté ver el video👍👍👍

Very good work. But a post vice is supposed to transfer the force down through the post and into the floor. Not through the bench. You might want to "adjust" how you have attached it...

Bom dia! Na casa da minha prima, tem um igual a esse, que era do meu Avó, que era ferreiro, e tem também uma roda de afiar facas, machados e outras coisas, grande. Na minha próxima ida a Espanha, vou tirar as teias de aranhas e o pó para ver a condição dela. Pelo que eu vi, me parece estar boa para funcionar. Excelente restauração.

Milling the jaws for inserts made mine usable again made a huge difference.

@@myrelics1 Correct you can machine the jaws to accept the generic bolt in clamps I have one with copper and gnarled steel for biting into the item your working on.

@@Brandon-so9fp gran idea si lo quieres para el taller y no piensas hacer nada de forja , estos tienen que tener las caras lisas para que no te marquen el metal , pero para darle un uso normal de taller es muy buena idea

@@myrelics1 Si compras el cobre o el latón inserta tu bien con cuchillos, espadas, etc., pero tus piezas de metal más pesadas, seguramente dejarás una huella en el metal.

Thanks for the video Becarfull about the lenght of the bare that you made with the lathe! The scrou is dedicated to à power that is calculated with the lenght of the barème. To many wise like this was broked by using inapropriate lenght or ad longer tube on it. Rimember : in the past the did'nt makes creasy things. Great job Br from Switzerland

@@myrelics1 Hola amigo, ara empezar quiero decirte que me encanta tu canal. Volviendo a la cuestión que comenta sobre la llave inglesa, creo que se refiere a su uso en el minuto 2:45 en donde la colocación es supuestamente errónea. Las llaves ajustables deberían usarse al revés de lo que se ve en esa imagen, en este caso con la parte rígida arriba. En otros tipos de llaves ajustables es mucho más exgerado el efecto de agarre dependiendo de la orientación. En el caso de la llave inglesa la orientación del mango efectivamente nos hace usarla así a veces porque es más ergonómico el agarre. De todas formas en este caso, veo que no te ha dado el más minimo problema. De todas formas no soy profesional, solo recuerdo las enseñanzas de mi padre con nostalgia y por eso me he animado a contestar. Saludos y espero no haber molestado. 👏👏👏
