Myrtle with its common name “Myrtle communis” belongs to the “Myrtaceae” family. It is native to the Mediterranean area and not found in Central Europe due to not being enough resistant to cold temperatures. The plant thrives best in sun or semi-celli locations preferring soil deficient and calcium neutral or slightly acidic. It Blends well with Citrus and conifers oils . The essential oil today comes mainly from Albania, Morocco, or France and also Turkey and is obtained through steam distillation of the little Twigs with leaves. Traditionally Myrtle symbolised fertility, chastity purity and virginity.
