I don't know how it is anywhere else in the States but in new york on your first felony conviction unless it's a life sentence or a flat sentence your minimum time is always one third of your maximum time. Meaning if your minimum is 7 years your maximum is 21 years. I don't know the specifics of his case. But I was convicted of armed robbery in 1994 in the Bronx and I received 8 1/3 to 25 years.

thanks for explaining, I understand the point and it is sad if a rapper gets sent to prison simply due to lyrics, but my point was pointing out the clear difference between movie actors and rappers. one is clearly a role for entertainment and the other is a blurred space where rappers need to keep it real in order to have any credibility.
