@@pubbychan3657 When you say Pegan, do you mean the hybrid Paleo & Vegan diet or did you just misspell Pagan, as in the religious beliefs? I'm confused because you mention both spellwork & food.

Totally random comment. I've watched lots of videos of old abandoned homes and newer soon to be demolished homes. Something I immediately noticed was that there was no snap crackle and pop sounds coming from wood floors. Now that's quality craftsmanship you no longer see especially when these newer million dollar homes have so called high end wood flooring that sounds extremely loud when being walked upon. I also really like the wallpaper in the room with the cool castle bed. With some TLC and paint, this home surely could be brought back to its glory days. If I was closer to retirement, I'd sell my home with the quickness to buy a home like that with lots of land and away from 👃 neighbors 😂

I'm from the deep south. The ceilings, especially on the porch and on the veranda are painted blue to confuse the ghosts, same for inside the house. The color is actually called "Haint Blue". The bundles are to ward off evil and they have a tendency to make the rooms smell good. The outside doors are painted in bright colors to bring in luck and keep out the spirit "Bloody Bones and Raw Head". You'll find that on many old Southern homes but it's dying out. It's wonderful to see a house that is still traditional.
@lynneager7235

I also live in the South, and when I first saw the sage hanging up in the kitchen, I got a bad vibe about the house. It could have been used for keeping bugs out,, since it repels them. Like Annabelle said, the porches are painted lt. blue on many porches in the South. I wondered if the first family left because they thought it was haunted. Seeing sheets in the tub with dark colorations on the sheet? The next family also left a bunch of stuff in the house, like they were in a hurry to leave. Why? Weird! Thanks for showing this house!

@@maryellenshockYes. It’s to keep bugs away by making it look like sky so they won’t land and nest. Not sure how it would confuse ghosts, but always love a good ghost story!
@annabellelee4535
@annabellelee4535 7 ай бұрын
@@maryellenshock Blue doesn't scare bugs away, you're eaten alive on the porch whether it's blue or cream or any color. Nothing scares away southern bugs. The belief behind Haint Blue is that ghosts are searching for a home, a roof over their heads. They get on a house's veranda and see nothing but blue over their heads, they think there is no house there and move on. If someone is especially afraid, they will also paint the foyer and hang sage and other fragrant herbs to ward ghosts off. It looks like a prior owner of that house was very afraid. Did you see where the living room paint was peeling and it was Haint Blue beneath the paint?

It is a beautiful old home. So elegant with the details and I love how it wasn't completely remodelled destroying the original features. Not hard to imagine a family or couple living in it. Back in the day it definitely would have had one or two servants as well. I've seen enough period movies shot in real houses to recognise some of the features and why things are set up the way they are with the formal dining room, sitting room and even the enclosed patio where a lot of iced tea would have been drunk lol Those stairs are too narrow and austere to be anything except to children's bedrooms or possibly servants quarters. All in all, a really lovely home, not one bad vibe was felt the whole video of Johnny exploring. Its a home too full of heart to be left to rot into nothingness. So sad.

It always puzzles me how these homes are frozen in time and it was like people were snatched away . No reports or other famiky that could handle their affairs. Maybe people are being snatched away like the national parks across the country. Back then things remain a " Mystery" or "unsolved". They didn't have the knowledge that we do today to research.

the ceilings are 14 foot! In bottom because it was originally a single story with huge attic, Stairs are so steep because you were entering the original attic that someone redid into bedrooms. I know this because we thought about using all that attic space in our old house like that. Stairs with little ones was the game changer. Enjoyed seeing someone else make it work for them.

I was thinking that this house couldn't be as old as it looks because the ceilings are high. The old homes I was accustomed to had short ceilings to hold the heat in the winters. Then I realized that perhaps in the south the opposite may be so to allow the heat to rise? That made me realize it indeed is old! What state is this in Bankz? Gorgeous place! Looks like it could easily be saved.

Old houses had high ceilings. Actually, 8' ceilings only became common during and after WW2 because standard studs were cut to 8' to save wood. Before that, they were cut to whatever the homeowner could afford. My Grandfather was a contractor. he built his own house with 10' ceilings on the main floor.

Love your videos, You're very respectful of other people's belongings, whether they're alive or they're passed on❤ if you're interested in foreclosed properties or distress properties that house that is in this video that you're showing is absolutely gorgeous. Why don't you just go to the county courthouse and find out the ins and outs of that property or any other property. They have lists of properties that the public can find out all the details for free 👍 Good luck in your ventures.

What a beautiful home. Made me feel all sorts of ways. Could envision the kids running up the stairs, and the family using the different parts of the home.

Haha I can imagine a little girl running up those stairs and being admonished by her mother, or maybe the cook, that proper ladies don't run up stairs! Walk!

Guys get some Off brand botanical spray. All natural, won't hurt animals and it works great! Keeps mosquitoes away.
