One of the more unique theories of the Shroud of Turin, is that it is the image of a person transferred to the cloth but that person is Jacques de Molay, the last Grand Master of the order of the Knights Templar. This theory was based on the fact that the family that is first known to have possessed the Shroud, were descendants of Jacques de Molay and that the fact that Molay was burned to death might explain the transference of the image.
