I love this game. I use this review to show new players. I describe it as Clue meets Dixit and has an unholy love child.

Good and fun game but there is no deductive thinking in this game, there is only inductive and abductive thinking.

I'm considering to buy this. Is it somehow similar to a spirit board as well - Ouija? Communicating with spirits...

Hi! Thank you for your review - I really appreciate and enjoy the work that you do :) I thoroughly enjoy Mysterium, but have only played it using the Polish rules. Are you able to speak to the differences between the Polish and English rule sets? Thanks again for really lovely series :)

+Matthew Jones Glad you like our show! The Polish version is different in many respects. Here is a great article from reddit that explains the changes in the English edition:: www.reddit.com/r/boardgames/comments/3p84e1/rule_differences_for_mysterium_english_version/ ~Adam

+Meeple Talk Thanks for that :) It really makes a difference and sets you apart when you interact with your viewers like you do. I have seen it on a number of other videos and makes me so happy to have stumbled across your show.

I'm confused as to the role of the ghost player. From the video, it sounds like the ghost player knows everything that is needed in order for the players to win while also trying to get the players to win. So, were it not for the fact that he's forbidden to talk, he could just tell every player what they needed to play in order to win.

+Hedgehobbit That is exactly right! Which is why the ghost cannot talk. The ghost can only hand out cards and hope the players pick up the clues. When you play the ghost, it's just like you ARE a ghost, behind a veil, unable to communicate except by vague symbols. ~Adam

+Hedgehobbit That is the "Dixit" part of the game...that the Ghost, who cannot talk, has to use the images on the cards to direct the players to guess the right clues, etc. The Ghost plays one game, on their own, and then listens to how they are interpreting the cards (rightly or wrongly, which is part of the fun) and then may have to continue to give cards until they each can advance. It would be why you would rotate who plays the Ghost...I enjoy being the Ghost more than one of the spiritual detectives, but truly it is a fun game!

+Ryan Jarvis It sounds like it would be trivially easy for the ghost player to add to the info given by the cards with facial expressions or how he deals the cards. (Like in Bridge) Almost as if the game would only work if the players aren't really concerned about actually winning.

+Hedgehobbit The cards are extremely misleading...there is absolutely nothing that a wink, or how you give someone a card (short of pointing to who you want them to select, at which point why would you want to play a board game), can help with their person/place/weapon. It is a creative game where you have to think outside of the box and use the symbolism to hopefully make a connection with the player. There are also others that have to select a different person and place and weapon (everyone has their own personal mystery you help them solve in that sense - each person/place/weapon is for a specific character, so again you would have to point out the answers - there is no other way to "cheat" other than strictly having the players try to figure out what message you are trying to send them through the cards...it often takes a second round of different cards for them to make the connection you are trying for...you hope the pictures or colour or some other feature will resonate with similar things in the actual people/place/weapon cards displayed), so very often you have more than one player that thinks you are directing them to a specific card...and so does someone else. You'll have to play the game, or watch a video that does a longer, full session of the game with multiple players for it to make more sense (it is a relatively easy game to learn, so seeing it played might help). Only after the Ghost gets all players past their personal three stages (with no person/place/weapon the same as another) THEN the Ghost has to select one of the groups of three (as each player will have their own collection), and only then do the players have to collectively try to guess the grouping that the Ghost has secretly selected (only using three cards - one for each section). Prior to that second phase everyone plays alone, with the Ghost, but can talk amongst themselves to hep with the cards in front of them.

Thank you for producing the review, but a couple of suggestions is to break your review into two parts. The first part should only be about the game and then tell people when you are going into your opinion. The second is to keep it simple. I am still lost and still don't know if I want to plays this game. Sincerely Kamren

+Meeple Talk I bought mine through amazon.com, they had a discount and with shipping and no tax it came out to be the same price or cheaper than the cost of games sold in stores....I think 50 dollars. But they are not shipping to Canada anymore....I just lucked out. Its moe about the distributers not provided enough for the market, US has supplies

Just from this overview, it sounds like a great board game for autistic people. I can see myself being comfortable as Ghost, while playing as a Psychic, would help out increasing social skills.
