Which one do you all think is better, Mystery of the Abbey or Mystery Express? I was a bit disappointed in Mystery of the Abbey. As always, fantastic job Tom!

We read the rules 3 times before we thought about looking it up on YT. Your review really made the rules come together. The game was still a bit confusing the first time, however the end of the game was well worth it. We actually had a tie and had to go to the telegram to decide the winner. Good game. also you can ignore the minutes for the first time and then when you know the hour it is easy to you to focuse the minutes and find them on the next time

I heard this was tough to figure out in the beginning and was hesitant to pick it up but this review has changed my mind. This looks like it could be a lot of fun. It's interesting that shooting and stabbing are reserved for 5 or 6 player games. Thanks for doing (clear) close ups of the pieces too!

Thanks for the review. I've was very excited after I heard that Days of Wonder was making a new game but wanted to wait to make sure it was going to be worth the $50. I'm still a little confused on how each turn works and I'd love to know what each characters power is, but great review otherwise.

I don't really like the hours method because you can easily discover the right one with this method: You know that the total of all the hours cards is 234, so you can keep keep track of the total of all the hours cards that you see and in the end you know the right one ( I.e the total was 222 so 234-222= 12 so 22 is the hour)

I have both and enjoy both, but with Mystery of the Abbey you can end up with someone else throwing everyone off (inadvertantly), especially if there are beginners present. Mystery Express doesn't have this problem. Also, Mystery Express can be played 2-player quite easily (with a 3rd player "dummy" hand that you don't look at); for MotA you want 5-6.

its a good game but I underestimated the the light manual for light game. fun but can get stressful/frustrating.

Is this an update of an older game or is it a brand new game? I have played another game that was very similar to this in the same many many years ago with an identical theme, working almost the same way as this game. It was not identical, but it was incredibly similar to this.

Man, Days of Wonder kills it with the production every time.

Looks awesome, I love Clue, I bet this would be a lot better (if i could get anyone to play it with me lol)

Mystery of teh abbey only works well with 5 or 6 players, stands Ok to a 4 player game but no way is enjoyable as a 3 player. Orient express seems to have managed to make it work with less players. Would like to try it before adding it to my colletion.

So it's a harder version of clue?

@etuak Its too hard. Well for me its fine. But i introduced this game to a number of my friends and usually half way through the game they all lost interest. Its just way too much...light gamers don't really enjoy games like this...more hardcore gamers might have more fun that is. this game sits in my closet. no play time. its like one of those games u play once and the next time, ummm...yeah no...lets play ticket to ride or something, NOT this one on noo. yeah.

4:35 Tom sounds discouraged

My wife and I played this game yesterday for the first time. Horrible in every sense of the word. It overstayed it's welcome after the first round. I would never play this game again and would never recommend it to anyone. Maybe in 2010 this was a game worth playing. There are so many hundreds or thousands of better games available now.
