A barrage of fireworks erupted Sunday evening in downtown Los Angeles and now police are trying to figure out who launched the illegal pyrotechnic show. Carlos Saucedo reports for KTLA 5 News at 10, Jan. 22, 2024.

Lol valid point. U made me remember a memory when I was 20. I worked at a campground and someone was lighting off fireworks by our pond. It was a holiday weekend, place packed with tents and dry grass so it was dangerous. I love fireworks but I had to stop them, but they ran off. I was cruising on my golf cart like I was intimidating lol they actually continued to set off more after I went back to the office so I raced down in a quieter golf cart and caught them as they raced off, but 1 idiot dropped his cell phone. Turned out to be a seasonal guest, someone who parks their motor home there all summer and can come and go anytime. I didn’t kick them out and we got a good laugh at how they got caught but I did give them a small fine so corporate wouldn’t get mad at me. How sad that a 20 yr old in a golf cart with no backup can stop fireworks better then the lapd haha

They do it in a certain way to go with music or make designs but in this case it just looks like amateurs who attached a bunch of fireworks with no real method to the madness haha

call me paranoid, but the first thing that comes to my mind is if someone or multiple people can arrange this without being seen and then ignite all of the fire works at the same time and still not be seen just means that if a group of people wanted to plan something bad they could and probably could get away with it as well.

@@gnericnuser I grew up in Kansas in a town of about 13,000 people, and the whole town was lit of with fireworks on July 4th in every direction, all sorts of aerial repeaters, reloadable shells etc. It's one of my best memories of childhood to get to do this legally. Unfortunately, living in DFW now, they are banned everywhere. Some still do it illegally though.

LA must be a very low crime city for the police to have so much time to focus so many resources and make such a big deal on a harmless fireworks display where no one was hurt and no property was damaged. It looked like a really good show. Props to whoever spent that much money to entertain their neighbors with a show like that. I'm sure it wasn't cheap.

it depends on how the show was set up. but its fairly simple to set off a show like this and not be there when its going off

It can be hard to pinpoint exactly where the fireworks are being set off at especially if it's off the road or on some property somewhere. Plus, LA is big so it isn't a fast response to get officers in place and there quick enough to have much time to take action. I watch a lot of the police chases from LA on KZfaq and some people have got away either because the police couldn't keep up or the person fled on foot before officers could get on scene.

you would think that LA would have had a cop within 30 minutes of that location. its make no sense that it went on for 30 minutes and the cops didn't arrive in time to see anyone. sad state if that's is the case.
