I think the Ghost that possessed Arthur's hand can only possess people during moments of strong negative emotions or emotional weakness. In Arthur's case his arm was possessed because he felt like a third wheel to the team. In Mystery's case he got possessed because he had sustained a lot of damage during the fight with Shiromori and went through a lot of emotional turmoil in mere seconds. with Vivi becoming almost mortally wounded by her and then promptly seeing Vivi kill Shiromori.

I think mystery see's shiro as his daughter. Mostly because he created her from his own blood so that's why he was suprised and scared shitless when he seen her dead (and given the fact that she reached to him with her arm in despair and cried).

Shiromori isnt dead . Her heart was intact when it left her body and it can likely make a new body same as Lewis's

You left out the part where Lewis and 2 deadbeats had to cover their ears when Mystery transformed. It also seems they're the only ones affected in that specific way.

I would like to point out that the arm seems afraid of the plant gal, seen in it's first appearance it reacts to her appearance not in intrest or amusement in some way but instead in mild fear (bunch of sweat marks if you zoom in on it,) and bolts out even before she fully pops up from the ground. What if this entity was why Mystery needed a guardian? And the plant gal was his creation and original semi-guardian?

There were two bandaids over where Shiromori’s and Vivi’s leaks appeared, so maybe that has something to do with the old battle?

The 'bandages' on the heart might actually be a seal, similar to the one on Vivi's bat. Maybe Vivi's ancestor put it there for some reason; for protection or to seal away some of Mystery's power, (since hearts appear to be the source of a spirit's power in this series). Maybe it has something to do with why Mystery used to be an antagonist but is currently friendly to Vivi and co.

I think mystery created shurimori to defeat mushi, and that mushi and mystery were enemies. In the previous video the flashes seem to show mushi facing down shirimori while mystery smirks while sitting in a tree. Mystery and shirimori were probably allies in the past, but enemies in the present. She is also obsessed with the blood that brought her to life. The videos show that mystery and shimori had some personal connection. Comparing the flashed images with the way the characters acted in the present, mystery was acting like a cheater, and shimori was acting like the cheated,

Heres my interpretation of the broken heart, its Mystery seeing people he cares about get hurt, he cares for Shiromori, maybe like a daughter, and seeing her get hurt by Mushi a long time ago created the first white streak , and seeing her die here caused the second white one, Vivi gets hurt causing the blue one, the yellow/orange streaks are Arthur, he had to rip his own friends arm off, and them watch him be tormented by the ghost of Lewis for potentially months, and finally is Lewis himself, mystery likely say him die, and then saw him come back as a tormented soul. The only one i have trouble explaining is the black one, maybe its the reason Mystery is a Kitsune? He realized how destructive Murder Mystery was and it broke his heart? But the green one, i think its the arm, or the original spirit in the arm, he may have had to kill the original spirit, causing his heart to break. I also think that the heart having bandages over Shiromori and Vivi is important, perhaps the original breaks where during the fight between Shiromori and Mushi, and seeing Shirimori alive healed that wound, as did finding Vivi.

I just noticed... from the moment you were talking about the number of tails Mystery has In Ghost when we first see that he is a Kitsune... the pictures to his left and right, or thorns... PLANTS.

Orange yellow: Arthur Blue green: Vivi Purple pink: Lewis Black white: Shimori I think I spelled the last one wrong

I believe that when Arthur saw what was within Lewis's heart, it started to change not directly because of Lewis's change of heart, but instead because the vengeful spirit had a clouded mind and saw things only a certain way. When Arthur made contact with the heart, which he was the only mortal to have done so, it helped to clear Lewis's mind and allow him to think more clearly hence why he suddey spiked up as he was knocking out Lance. We've already seen how Lewis can be easily stopped and swayed just by seeing or feeling something, Vivi jumping between him and Arthur in Ghost causing him to falter and Shigamori's flowers enraging him are both pieces of proof to this. And yes, I do believe his change of heart was what ultimately *changed the heart* , but you could see his regret from even before it getting shot off him, meaning it would've transformed before being picked up, or at least be midway through.

The green hand might also be connected to the green fluid leaking out of Mystery's heart.

Mystery's heart must be some kinda of power energy since the arm and the other plant villan want it so much, also vivi is kinda of a guardian of mystery, there should be some reason for suck willing of power.

I like the theory someone left on the official video where they stated that the image inside heart represents what the person holding it desires. So when Lewis held it, it was his desire for Vivi, but when Arthur held it it shifted towards the group prior to the accident. They made sure to note that Arthrur had both arms in that photo, hence making it before. In addition, they stated that the reason Lewis's eyes flash is because it is shifting from what Arthur remembers (which means not remembering Lewis fully because of Mystery [?] altering their memories) and what Lewis remembers - because Lewis remembers everything, just from his own perspective. This shift in turn helps Lewis realize that Arthrus actions were not intentional and that he had no control or recollection. This would explain why Lewis reacted to the photo the way he did; if he already knew he had a change of heart I don't think he'd be so surprised to see the image had changed. But perhaps the flashing of the eyes now means that what Arthur wants and what Lewis wants are the same thing. That's my own personal spin on that theory.

I just realized that the bandages were covering up the blue and white stream, which are linked to Vivi and Shirou and can be seen rupture after each character is injured/killed. Its probably cuz those characters go back the furthest and have had some sort of past traumatic event which caused their original openings before being bandaged.

About the heart, those don't look like bandages, those look like seals without writing on them, and the two tails came out of those two things, whether they are bandages or seal paper. If they are seals then it is likely that Mushi sealed up some of Mystery's power and thus his tails. And his grief tore apart at those seals or something. Now admittedly, now that I put it down in writing, the second half of what I'm about to say sounds much more plausible with the themes of this series If they are bandages, then i theorize that those tails that he gets from sources of grief have a way of poisoning him, in a more spiritual manner, and those bandages were him sealing up those wounds (hey, maybe they are seal paper used instead as bandages?) And letting him come to terms with his grief and healing from it. So, when Vivi comes so close to dying, mystery feels all that grief come rushing forward, and it powers him up once more, but filling him with a toxin (again, spiritual, not a literal physical poison) and it makes him that much more vulnerable. And he doesn't want more death on his paws so he convinces Vivi to let Shiro go. And then when he sees Shiro get killed by Vivi right after Shiro betrays the mercy given to her, it causes so much grief that it rips a new hole in his heart and thus that final tail come out and overwhelms him with his grief and pain. Thus giving Lefty (the spirit that possessed Arthur's arm) opening to take full control of Mystery Also something you should maybe see, at the 3:28 mark of the video, it's only there for a couple frames, but you see his eye turn green as he saw Vivi get hurt so badly. It's right after the heart shows the blue tail coming out. Although damn I keep thinking of more to say as I'm writing this, there's a Green tail coming out of his heart that has been there at the very least before they met up with Lewis in Ghost, so maybe Lefty has had a grip on him at that point, or maybe even long before that and it's just been waiting for the right time to take him over? As it is I'll end this right here so as to not make an entire novel out of theorizing and jumping from point to point as my brain latches onto a new idea or possibility and sprints with it

They posted reference guides for the monster mystery on their official patreon and named him "Murder Mystery"

In the "Ghost" flashback right at the end when Mystery tears off Arthur's arm, he has 6 tails. However, in "Freaking Out" when Arthur gets jumpy around Mystery, the transition animation of tails rising behind Arthur shows 7 tails. In "The Future", when Mystery sees Vivi get wounded, his heart ruptures and he grows an 8th tail. When Mystery sees Shiromori get wrecked, his heart ruptures and he grows a 9th tail. At the end of the video his heart has 8 ruptures in it, color-coded for different characters and incidents. So, I think it's pretty clear that the ruptures are related to traumatic experiences, and that each rupture causes him to grow another tail, with the ninth causing him to lose control and transform. Whether Murder Mystery is a direct result of that or has something to do with the arm, I'm not really sure. But, if the background art in Hellbent is accurate, Mystery's been up to 8 tails before. Shiromori's flashback images show him with 8 tails in one image, and the bandage on his heart covers the ruptures from Shiromori and Vivi/Mushi. So my guess is, Mystery started off with a single tail, then every traumatic incident he witnessed/experienced caused a rupture in his heart that released a little bit more of his power. Once he couldn't hold on any longer, he started changing into Murder Mystery, which is right when the rogue arm decided to make its play. This might also suggest there's a way to beat Murder Mystery without actually fighting him - if his heart's ruptures can be fixed, then perhaps the key is the reconciliation between Lewis, Arthur, and Vivi. If they can work past the events around Lewis's death and come together as friends again, it's possible that at least one of his ruptures could be closed, de-powering Murder Mystery to the point where Mystery can take control again.

I think the colors pouring out of the heart represent all the people at the restaurant in freaking out when Louis dropped his computer.

I think Shiromori loves or at least deeply cares about Mystery and vice versa only Mystery ‘moved on’ while Shiromori didn’t. She even reaches out to Mystery before she dies so, the way I see it, somethings gotta be going on there

What I found most interesting, upon re-watching Freaking Out, is that Shiromori was actually going to give up on the search for Mystery at the cave. She followed his trace to that location, but it was too weak for her to keep chasing him. The flower withers, and she slams her fist against the cave wall. She was going to abandon her search then and there, but then the green/purple mist 'woke up' from her outburst, the cave, and the green entity PROVIDED her the next clue to follow. I think that the walking hand didn't need an outlet to get into Mystery during the events of Future, It was already inside when Mystery tore the arm out. The ghost creature seeped into him through the mouth and simply waited for a chance to get a better attachment to Mystery by pitting his friends against each other. The colors of his torn heart are his desires and wishes to protect those around him. Blue is Vivi, Yellow is Arthur, Purple is Louis, these are given, but the Pink could be Shiromori, White and black could be Mystery's physical body, and his mental state or soul. Since the white one bursts loose when he takes damage, which would coincide with the two bandages being that Vivi's ancestor defeated him. Lastly we have the red line, which could be his Kitusne power, that he's been trying to contain as he's been living with Vivi and the Mystery Skulls crew, and the new Green line... which is most likely the ghostly possession working into him slowly. All these separate parts of his desires are clashing with one another, he doesn't want to fight against Shiromori, but he has to protect Vivi, and when Vivi gets the upper hand, he doesn't want to throw his (Potentially) first love away either. He has to put his life on the line trying to protect them both, and seeing Vivi injured lets the Green push his anger over the top and made him vulnerable, body and soul. He was literally tearing himself apart from the inside, trying to make everyone around him happy.

I just noticed something. If you take a look at Shiromori's heart, it looks like a hōzuki. (A hōzuki is a some sort of a Japanese lantern plant.)

(05:16) Was Shirou really killed tho? Her heart got knocked out of her body and damaged there's probably consequences to that, but her body seems more like a puppet than anything else, can't just grow a new body as long as her heart still somewhat functional?

I love series intrinsically tied to music. Music can display complex emotion ans symbolism is a different way to visual arts, but when paired together. It fleshes out a world and makes it feel not only real, but DEEPLY connected.

When you go back to the moment in the first video where they explore a cave, there is something happening in the split path image. On the right, we see some kind of vampire-bat creature opening their eyes, and those eyes are green! Whatever it is, I believe it is the origin of the possession of the arm, and I believe it also tells us that the cave is that green thing home, disturbed by the gang. In the picture on the computer in the second video, we see many more coloured characters. Maybe they are linked to the stream exiting his heart? could it be that each tail represents a person that was killed/lost that mystery cared about, and its tails worked as some kind of countdown? interestingly enough, he has 7 tails when fighting Muchi.

Honestly, waiting 2 years for these 4-5 minute music videos is like waiting for a blockbuster movie sequel. I’m hooked! Even with almost no voice acting, I’ve really grown to love these characters just as much as any character from my childhood, and in my opinion, that really speaks to how well-made these videos are.

The heart's bandaids are where the ruptures we see in the video are: the blue one when Vivi is cut and the white one when Shiromori dies. It appears that the events reopened those wounds, meaning that it could also be another sign of this being a repeat of history, and maybe a clue that similar things happened to Mushi and Shiromori in his past, that he had recovered from, only to have the same feelings that caused them to crack again. Never really been a good analyzer though haha.

I have a feeling - maybe it's just me thinking this - that the Mystery gang were a poly couple.

Probably said already but Mystery having 6 tails in the flash back makes sense. When Louis passed, he grew another tail making 7 in total. Then 8 with Vivi, and 9th with Shiro. So curious what the other colours are. Love the guess about the bandages on his heart.

What if shiromori wants mystery blood bc its running out and she needs it to survive? You see when vivi baseballed shiro heart you can see its pretty much almost empty with only a tiny heart there and a lot of cracks my theory is that she cant fully operate without his blood cuz that was what gave her life and since she needed blood to survive in her old days (all those armous and swords being tangled by thorns) perharps she cant do that anymore cuz of the battle and the defeat for the ancestor of vivi by fear or simply being too broken she couldnt eat or drink anymore going into a dorment estate but after a long period of years after mystery goes 6 tails to save arthur she might have been woken up and now need desperately of the blood to cure herself (also she might be addicted to that too) Feel free to expand on the theory

After rewatching the series I noticed something regarding the ongoing tails theory. In Freaking Out, when Shiro finally manifests the lotus she needs to find Mystery, the Lotus has 9 petals. We know from hellbent that Mystery watered her flower with his blood. In the splash screen in Hellbent depicting Mushi facing Mystery in Shiro's forest, Mystery has 8 tails. After his defeat by Mushi, he seems to have 7 tails. The two seals on Mystery's heart at the end are on blue and white, which we generally agree are Vivi and Shiro. What if Mystery started as a 9 tailed demon and 'gifted' his tails to those most important in his life, namely Shiro and later Vivi's bloodline, sealing away part of his powers and losing a tail as well as his more demonic nature. He's tied his power to their health, which is why he grows two tails when Vivi is (seemingly) fatally wounded and Shiro is supposedly killed. This returned his full power to him in his dying moment, perhaps the very moment that ??? has been waiting for to corrupt Mystery.

Also seems The way we see Mystery at the end, (confirmed possibly) on the tumblr of mystery ben as Murder Mystery. Along with a whole bunch of concept art of it from different angles so wonder how this will go for the series as a whole.

A lot are calling the patches bandages, which is how they're functioning. But they may also be those Shinto spirit seals. They have been holding back a massive amount of power for a few centuries. The next chapter will be a life or death struggle, and Shiromori will need to grow a new, if weaker, body if anyone has a chance to survive and save Mystery.

I think it's VERY telling that the "Band-aids" on my stories heart, that have flows coming out of them again, are the spots we have a blue and white flow, Blue For Vivi and Moshi, and white for Shiromori. Old emotional wounds are literally opening-up, and it escalated from there.

i think it could also be that mystery is the one that bit off arthur's arm, so maybe it could have also worked like an infection?

Fun fact: kitsunes who are turned evil are called nagitsunes (could be spelled wrong)

It's really hard to deconstruct the heart scene near the end of the video. We really don't have great data, but the color theming of the characters does help. Blue is obviously Vivi, and it's telling that her color stream is adjacent to Shiromori (and both are covered by the same bandage.) The pink is definitely Lewis... though the purple might be as well? Ghost Lewis is more flourescent, but sometimes the living Lewis (or perhaps the whole Pepper family?) has a color theme that is more purple. Once again, they are adjacent as well. Yellow is definitely Arthur, and perhaps Lance? Once more it's telling that those colors are opposite each other on the heart... or maybe this is all overanalyzing. That leaves the red, white, and black... It gets complicated there, because those are ALL colors for Mystery. Mystery does have 3 forms throughout the episodes, which could explain why there are three colors (Dog, Kitsune, Monster.) If positioning of the colors matters, I would conclude the red is associated with his dog form, the white with his kitsune form, and the black with his monster form. This would put his dog form closest to both Arthur and Vivi, and his more powerful and dangerous forms closer (but not closest!) to Lewis and Shiromori. It's also telling which colors are streaming from Mystery's heart throughout the video. When Vivi is injured, Mystery's heart is ALREADY bleeding green, showing his connection to Shiromori was already damaged (indicated by the bandage?) When Shiromori is then attacked by Vivi, we see that Yellow, Red, and Black were already flowing, now joined by white (which had a bandage on it.) It seems to be that the white flow of power escaping his heart is what causes Mystery to pass out and succumb to the beast, which the wiki called Murder Mystery. We never see if the purple and pink were already flowing, but it's a fair assumption they were both flowing when Lewis was killed? It's possible the yellow has been flowing since he attacked Arthur. Now this is ADVANCED conjecture but Arthur's arm, representing whatever force compelled him to attack Lewis, is a similar green to Shiromori. Mystery was also present BEFORE Arthur was taken over, and the cave itself has a green theme. Shiromori may have been what was haunting the cave, and only Mystery would have been aware of her at the time. Perhaps Vivi's presence and her connection to Shiromori is what woke Shiromori up. At first all Shiromori could manifest was possessing Arthur's arm (since Arthur's feelings of distance and exclusion to his friends made him resonate the strongest with Shiromori's feelings of betrayal.) Mystery sensed something was wrong, but couldn't act in time to save Lewis. Even after attacking Arthur, perhaps Mystery stayed behind and gave Shiromori enough blood to grow and manifest once more. This is all sorts of crazy babbling, and it really doesn't lead to any satisfying conclusions, but maybe greater minds than mine can come up with something less nonsensical from my observations.

There are colors for each of the characters we've seen thus far, including the ghost who possessed Arthur and wanders around in his severed arm now, and orange for Lance. I'm pretty well convinced that each of those spurts of color are related to each of them, Mystery himself included. Also, I was amused at the idea of each of the tails showing up during times when people he cared about getting hurt, almost like he 'aged a hundred years' due to the stress he was under.

I noticed that the two bandages are located where vivi's and shirymory energy is coming out of, as if they had leaked from those spots before.

Nice breakdown! I personally think though that those aren’t bandages on Mystery’s heart, but Ancient Seals. Like something a priest would use. He did originate from Ancient Japan when Samurai were around, priests would be there too.

I do feel like the reason why the picture changed in Louis heart when Arthur touched was to remind Arthur of someone who really was important to him, because it seemed as they did not know who Louis was, cause when we see the first video, Vivi saw a picture of herself with a “strange man” and when Arthur saw Louis the first time in the video, he did not recognize him, and it should be obvious that the whole gang would recognize Louis cause they were friend from a long time

Theory: The green arm is actually the evil emotions that were inside Mystery before Mushi defeated him. I think she ripped the evil from Mystery's heart, and that's why he has a bandage on it now. If we go back to the first episode, ghost, we can see Mystery being agitated while being inside the cave where Louis died, which could mean he sensed his evil essence near by, and why he was so quick to bite off Arthur's arm, because he knew the evil inside it couldn't be removed. Throughout the episode, future, we see Mystery's heart tearing open each time something upsets him, or angers him, as his aggression could be linked to his evil side, so as the seal was being broken down, his evil was worming its way back into his heart. And now that mystery is near dying, his evil side took control of all of Mystery's emotions, and therefore, his powers. That could be the reason why we see Mystery transform into a completely different looking version of himself compared to his past self when fighting Mushi.

I've seen a few things online about how when Arthur's arm goes haywire during future, it is reaching out to Lewis. More obviously after Lewis runs to Vivi's aid, his arm is reaching to Lewis before he pulls it back at 4:29. Though if you look at 4:19 and 4:21 of the future video, you can see the same mountain in the background, and it looks like Arthur's arm is again, reaching for Lewis. I've got no clue what this means, but I think it's a cool observation.

I believe the stream of colors from mystery’s heart is from all of the people that got hurt, and has a emotional bond with

There are several colors in mystery heart we don't know Orange = ??? Yellow = Arthur Green = ??? Blue = Vivi Purple = Lewis Pink = ??? White= Shiro Black = ???

Since Arthur’s prosthetic arm was going haywire and the green infected hand we say grabbing mystery’s heart was green it is most likely Arthur’s arm and as trying to get mystery’s heart. We didn’t think of Arthur’s hand much because it wasn’t shown often and the fight was to draw attention away from it.

Please never end mystery skulls! I've been a big fan for over six years!

Nice analysis. I've a few thoughts for you to mull over when you feel like it: I think Mystery's blood gave Shiramori not only her powers, but her life. Based on Hellbent, my headcanon is that Mystery was a typical folklore 9 tails (ala an enemy to humans) and he gave his blood to the flower willingly for the lulz creating a demon forest that developed a will in Shiramori. Based on the quick cuts from Hellbent, Mystery can be seen clearly enjoying the unfolding confrontation. I also think that while Shiramori seeks Mystery's blood out of necessity or hunger, she also considers Mystery a close friend, father or lover. Evidence can be seen in Shiramori and Mystery's reaction to Vivi's likeness to their old foe Mushi, as well as Shiramori's blush in Hellbent and constant rage at Mystery being on her side. In Future in particular you can see she cries after wounding Mystery. It is likely that in the past Mushi traveled to that forest to defeat Mystery, and cut down Shiramori who attempted to defend him in the past, which would mean they are old allies. Still not enough for a concrete theory yet, but I think Mystery's tails do indeed represent his power, but much of it has been sealed away likely after his confrontation with Mushi in the past, and now has some sort of connection with certain people (the main characters in this story who are likely ancestors of other characters who had involvement with the seal) and gains more power as he sees their blood (or something akin to them being hurt/heart broken) -- returning more and more to the evil 9 tails with each tail. I also don't think those are bandages on his heart. I believe those are talisman that are acting as seals on his power/number of tails he can manifest. I'm also guessing that the Arm spirit character is another ancient character, maybe the samurai from the flashback cuts in Hellbent that can be seen lying up against the tree? Lastly I think the color of the streams coming out of Mystery's heart represent different characters almost all of which I think we've seen up until now: Orange: Arthur Yellow: Lance Blue: Vivi Green: Arm Spirit Pink: Lewis Purple: Ghost Lewis Black: Mushi White: Mystery Or they represent different sides to the main characters: Yellow/Orange: Arthur's cowardice and courage Pink/Purple: Lewis' passion and pride Blue/Black: Vivi's brightness and blindness (blindness in relation to my theory that she or someone sharing a body with her had something to do with why they don't remember Lewis). Red/White: Mystery's fury and sadness Green: Arm spirit's envy A lot of shots in the dark, but it's what I'm working with based on videos alone.

Note the bandages on Mystery's heart is over Vivi's and Shiro's beams. They both broke his heart before.

Did anyone else notice how Mystery gains his tails immedietly after the bandages on his heart are broken? The minute Vivi is injured the first breaks, and he gets an 8th tail. Then, when Shiromori gets injured the bandage breaks again and that's when he gets his ninth. He has an equal number of tails to the weird beam things in his heart plus another probably because hes a wolf and already normally has one tail.

I'm gonna call it. Lewis is going to be voiced by Luis Dubuc (aka THE Mystery Skulls) in the finale. It's GOTTA happen, right???

I think the colored liquid represents each person who he failed to save. White is because Shiro died, blue is because Vivi almost died. Purple because of Lewis’ death, and Yellow or Orange for Arthur because of either ripping off his arm, or allowing him to be possessed

But as Arthur keeps it in his hands and takes a closer look, it begins to shift. By the time Lewis takes it back, it's showing all four of them. A shocked Lewis realizes Arthur still considers him a friend, and he cries.

I was gonna point out the two bandages are where Tree girl and Vivi colors were, so the bandages were covering where they last fought

If you also look at mystery's heart the area where the bandages are we're the colours for vivi and shiromori when they are both injured/killed which could relate back to the past fights with vivis family and how their deaths or something similar previously cracked mystery's heart

There is the possibility of the Orange,Red, White and Black could be Mystery own Life or Heart

For some reason shigamori's behavior in this Episode and the previous episode reminded me of a scorned lover.

I hypothesize that another reason why Lewis' heart is his weak spot as a ghost because that's where he got impaled, also notice that when the uncle does shoot him, that is the only wound that appears on his "body."

I think the amount of tails is how many spirit juice is flowing out of mysterys heart. Some of the places have bandages which explains why the tails disappear and reappear

Is anyone confused about the "freaking out" episode; it says in the description it came out on April. And if you go to there playlist and go to the description of the "ghost" episode it cam out in October. A couple months AFTER April.

My theory is that the Heart that was leaking colors is the heart of the dog that splite into the heart of the purple skull, heart of the plant lady,yellow/green robot arm, blue baseball bat, the red dog, and the black, white, pink and orange will be discoverd in next episod or something.

My assumption was that the number of tails Mystery has coincides with the number of significant losses he's had... Mushi's was plastered over, as was Shiromori's. When Vivi gets stabbed and Shiro dies, respectively, those holes open up again. There's a yellow/orange one too - probably from when Mystery ripped Arthur's arm off, hurting his friend... There's also a pink one, coinciding with Lewis's colour. Interesting that there's a green one, sorta like ???'s colour

I want to point out that both ruptures to Mystery's heart we see already have bandages on them. Likely there was something bad that happened to Shiromori and Mushi WAAAAY back that he'd healed from, but seeing it all happen again literally breaks his heart. And in the same way, just with Vivi taking the place of Mushi.

To be honest if you go back at FREAKING OUT you can find a green hand peering out as shiru is about to go in I think and that might be the hand that grabs mystery's heart

Here is my personal theory about what mystery's heart colours could be (sorry if it doesn't make sense it's hard to write all of what I have in my head): Every streak of color is a person getting hurt. The white is Shiramori, because when she is torn in two and her heart flies away that's when Mystery's 9th and last heart rupture happens. It also has a bandage which suggests it was once patched. The blue streak was also patched once, and I think that's because it was Vivi's ancestor, not Viv herself. Although both Vivi and Mushi wear blue shades, with closer inspection Vivi has a slight tint of green in her clothes. Mushi is much more blue, knowing that she was the one to originally pass down her ice/snow/water related power to Vivi. Supporting this fact is that it's already bandaged, and in the past Vivi hasn't been hurt with Mystery witnessing it. The patches have come from the battle between Mushi and Shiramori, Mystery being close to both of them and being at the battle. After seeing them both heal after the battle his heart healed as well, with the bandages appearing. The purple being Lewis in his alive state, and pink is his ghost form. Mystery has seen Lewis die, causing the purple rupture. While being a ghost, his heart cracks multiple times, making the pink rupture appear. Either yellow or orange is Arthur, seeing that Mystery ripped his possesed arm off. This can suggest yellow is arthur and orange is his arm/possessed side, even though it was green. Black could be an unknown character, or his parent/parents being killed as we don't see any of them, but guessing by Mystery and Murder Mystery's colour pallet they could represent black. Saying the black is relative to Mystery's parents, it could also be Mystery himself. He has been injured many times and it has never been patched because he never recovered from his wounds, mental and phsyical.

I feel like Mystery has different amounts of tails throughout the series because each tail represents how many gashes are open in his heart. In Ghosts he had six tails, he probably already had six openings in his heart already and as the story progressed, the more gashes he started to gain. ending with nine tails where there was to many rips in his heart that he transformed because his heart is out of control.

It also worth poning out that blue and white liquid are where the band-aid are

4:19 I think the implication is that Mystery feels pity for Shiromori and regret for his past actions, since his blood caused her to become the way she is.

On twitter the creator showed an image of the new form mystery is now and the name of it is Murder Mystery

I also just noticed that where the blue and white come out of mysterys heart, it's the same place where the bandages were. I suppose as a hint to this happening before

When the arm grabs mystery’s heart, it covers some of the colors, not sure what it means though

I think Lewis starts crying because in the picture in his heart locket, his eyes vanish shortly. I take this to believe Lewis is starting to fade, as since now he is no longer tied to his vengeance, he no longer has unfinished business. Could also be related to the shotgun shots from Lance

Honestly I think the picture was actually always all his friends, but he was so blinded by anger and love that he only saw what he wanted to see

People are saying Shiromori isn't dead ...but her heart got launched away and it could like, break or crack from fall damage. So even if she isn't permanently dead it could be hard for her to come back

Also in the scene where Vivi is slashed i think that is actually Mushi spitting blood because in that silhouette we don't see Vivi's glasses. Just a thought.

I'm pretty sure there was some sort of connection between Mystery and Shiomori where if she dies Mystery was supposed to die as well, or maybe that's what allowed him to maintain his self awareness. With shiomori's heart destroyed the beast took over

I think the hand which shows in the end was the infected disattached arm of Ather and the arm take over mystey when he transformed in his beast form when all the colours start flowing

btw the colour comeing out of mysterys soul does represent the characters, yellow is arthur, orange is lance, blue is vivi/mushi, white is shiromori, purple is lewis and green being arthurs hand/ghost my proof is that small amounts of yellow comes out of the where the green is which leaves three colours
