Great Coxwell is a small village located in Oxfordshire, England, with a rich history dating back many centuries.
Great Coxwell has its roots in the medieval period. The village is best known for the Great Coxwell Barn, an impressive and well-preserved 13th-century barn. This barn is an excellent example of medieval architecture and was once part of Beaulieu Abbey's holdings.
The village historically thrived on agriculture, and the Great Coxwell Barn played a crucial role in storing grain harvested from the surrounding fields.
The village was also home to several manor houses, including Great Coxwell House and Coxwell House, which have stood as significant landmarks in the village's history.
Over time, the village saw changes in land ownership and inhabitants, contributing to its evolving local history.

That a coincidence I saw your video Kevin as I am in the Cotswolds for six weeks and have been to visit most of the places but not Great Coxwell. Will have to go there. I went to the village called Broadway. It’s an absolute dream, so beautiful. I hope you get to visit Broadway. It’s so beautiful. Dry cold this time of year isn’t it. Enjoy Kevin.

interesting to see the village has a reading room rather than a village hall. These were created in the 19th century mainly by wealthy landowners and the church to provide education, in most cases to learn to read, and as an option to the pub which up to then, were the only places working labourers would meet. It was not until 1914 the start of the First World War, that women began attending, I assume because the men were at war. This is yet another example of how life has changed in such a short time.
