To be fair i doubt Alphys wanted her job that much after what happened. I feel like after the amalgamates disaster she basically stopped doing work all together and only used the lab for her own projects like Mettaton.

Let's not forget that Asgore was also sad because it was partially his fault. The first True Lab entry says *_"Time to do what the King has asked me to do. I will create the power to free us all. I will unleash the power of the SOUL"._* Asgore knows that the humans he'd fought were able to reset, which is the SOUL behavior that he wanted Alphys to investigate. It's that very trait Asgore wanted to research that caused the Amalgamates.

You know? That's probably what Alphys wanted. After hiding for so long, it probably felt good to be recognized, held accountable, and relieved from a job that brought her immense grief. I wonder what the Dreemurrs thought about Gaster though...

I mean, that is a pretty fair response tbh. We all knew how Toriel felt about Asgores plan and Alphys experiements were just an extension of that. Experiements which led to extremely horrible stuff. Seems reasonable to remove the people associated from power, even if they feel sorry about it.

Honestly reading the comments I'm kinda surprised at how people view the Amalgamates. They are genuinely fine. They aren't in pain and the families are happy to see them (like. The Amalgmates were supposed to be dead. People got their dying relatives back). Sure, they kinda lost themselves, but once we help them they chill. The real problem here is that Alphys didn't let them out.

I feel like that's what allows Toriel and Asgore to be amazing rulers. Asgore is sympathetic, and Toriel is practical. The people know action will happen, but that they shouldn't live in fear.

Still doesn't change the fact that Toriel probably never told any of the kids that a Barrier existed, which would trap them underground unless they killed Asgore or another Boss Monster. I mean, Toriel is a kind caring mother figure who was likely pissed she kept these innocent monsters locked up, especially the snowdrakes mother, keeping a mom away from their children due to your own mistake and your own shame.

I love how this implies that Toriel was still the queen of the underground even after she banished herself to the most isolated place in the underground for (probably) many centuries

Toriel definitely did it because the entire true lab experiments were taking a mental toll on Alphys, so firing her was the best option Toriel had

Toriel doesn't like cowardice. She was especially mad at Asgore because he could have just absorbed one human soul and walked through the barrier to get the other six, but he would rather hope that another human never comes. Alphys is not that different in the way she reacted to her mistakes. It is no surprise that Toriel had that reaction when you consider this.

I can understand why Toriel did that. Alphys messed up when creating them and merged a bunch of monsters together making most of them unrecognisable and subjecting them to a fate worse than death and she broke apart families(shyren is sad because her sister fell down and snowdrakes was left miserable at home causing him to run away with his father being left alone.)(the amalgams are subjected to a fate worse than death because they’re stuck away from their families in a creepy old lab while being merged with atleast 2 other monsters possibly even more (snowdrakes mom has vegetoid is for eyes and has the least amount of visible monsters in there other than memory head which doesn’t look like any monsters we’ve seen so I’m just gonna assume there’s so much monsters merged that you can’t even see actual traits) and forcing them to eat only dog food and chips (the vending machine and the food near the fridge in the lab) then hid the fact she did that for possibly years while not even telling their family anything (I forgot exactly what she did but she either ghosted their family when they asked or she told the families they died) and she created an evil flower who attacked and tried to kill her child *3* times (the beginning, omega, and asriel dreemur.)and possibly more seeing how she blasted Flowey immediately instead of just trying to intimidate him like she does to the froggit which makes me believe Flowey did the same thing before. Alphys did some absolutely horrible things so I understand why Toriel fired her. If i was toriel I would’ve done *MUCH* worse. If it was my situation I would put her in jail for a very long time considering what she did. (The amalgams were an accident so I wouldn’t really do what she could get. Like she could probably get a death sentence or life in prison just for that but it was an accident so I would still give her punishment but not as much but she still hid them for years in those conditions which would definitely give her an extra couple years.) (I would be in Toriels situation so I would be a ruler and I don’t know whether the underground has specific laws or anything about their laws or what law Alphys would be breaking at all so I’m just assuming I can just decide punishment.) Being completely fair, knowing Toriel, she probably POLITELY relieved her from duty. Besides, if the Royal Guard is no longer necessary, then the Royal Scientist should be in the same boat, so maybe she just told Alphys that she didn’t need to be the Royal Scientist anymore which would classify as firing her. If you think about it, everybody got “fired” from their royal and non-royal duties when the barrier broke. And on the off chance she did fire Alphys, she probably did it for Alphys’ mental health. The job was taking a massive toll on her. Regardless of which scenario you choose to believe is the most likely, neither monster seems particularly angry or irritated. She and Toriel seem to be on good terms.

I think it's good ! Alphys did messed up big time after all. I think it's giving a good message. You don't deserve to be emotionally tormented for your mistakes, especially once you've assumed making them, but you also need to assume the consequences. I would die on a hill about why Alphys is an underrated character, and finding out about this dialogue makes her even better in the end. She messed up, learned to assume her mistakes, and then assumed the consequences.

I think this in general shows who they are pretty well, asgore genuinely does care about everyone deep down even if he does terrible things, and toriel is extremely harsh with what she thinks is the best thing to do, and then alphys likely wouldn't have wanted to stay as the royal scientist anyways
