I grew up with anticipation waiting & staying up for the arsenio hall show to come on....Whenever i knew that Arsenio was interviewing Eddie Murphy, it was like an event in my household similar to how some folks look forward to watching a great sports event or going to the theater to watch a movie that they begged their parents to take them to! Now as a grown ass man i can see the authenticity in their friendship clearer as an adult. I literally thought that they were best friends as a child (who both just happen to be very talented, gifted and famous) and was thoroughly entertained by these interviews. Now as a full grown adult watching this with my personal nostalgia attached to this.... This shit is kind of deep. I peeped how Arsenio was trying to steer the interview into a place of black consciousness and trying to make Eddie speak more to the state of where black entertainers were respected or disrespected within the white dominated space of entertainment (hollywood). But i understood Eddie Murphy's stance in just coming on the show to promote his projects & to entertain (and kick it with his fellow successful friend in colleague) and also understood Arsenio's stance. I have no particular point in this comment lol but i wish the arsenio hall show was available on streaming services....Such a great time to be alive witnessing this in real time!

I remember watching this when it first showed on TV. I couldn't wait for it to come on and that day I had eaten a 1/8 of shrooms (I'm not one of those people who brag about taking mind expanding drugs but I haven't seen this since 1992 and I've thought about this every once in awhile. I forgot it was on (for obvious reasons) and was at a friends house when he remembered it was on. He turned on the TV at the part where Eddie Murphy was staring into the camera and we thought his TV was broken because the audience was laughing but he wasn't moving so he hit the side of his TV a little too hard and broke it. We had to watch the rest in his bedroom and if GF came home and heard us giggling in their bedroom. It was like an episode of Three's Company with his GF thinking a little more was going on than two dudes who consumed Magic Mushrooms and having the giggles.

Vampire in Brooklyn truly one my favorite. Also, Vampire in Brooklyn seem to have change once they got to filming because Flav wasn’t in the movie nor the big breast woman, and the two room mates but I love it.

Eddie, please do stand-up again. I know you don’t need the cash but WE NEED YOU, in these crazy times. You’re still gorgeous! I wonder if any of Eddie’s 12 kids are as funny as he is . . . I hope to see them perform someday. Love when Eddie rips on Cosby. 😊

i knew he was funny but to be a genius also is too much! He deflected the article question so well he made me want to read it without knowing the topic! he made Ars' break character (despite them being familiar with each other) which shows his ability to still be impressionable on even those he knows. If i never see this guy in real life he has had the most impressive run of any comedian in my era! #GOAT ! side note:conversation that he sparked articulating "Co¬median" the way he did evolved into "Pro-tect me from Cletus" u can hear the Klump characters in his comedy even then,MJ/OJ/ James Brown of comedy!

Listen to Charlie Murphy stories on the Dave Chappelle show. His brother was with him from birth. He knows him BETTER than anyone. JUST because your life experience included DRUGS and Alcohol, doesn't mean that has been everybody else's experience. There are millions of people who NEVER drank or DONE DRUGS. And even if he tasted alcohol doesn't mean he drank alcohol as a habit. He NEVER did DRUGS. Quit transferring your sordid twisted experience on OTHERS.
