Mytek's Brooklyn Bridge & AMP is a killer Kallax-Fi system

Mytek's Brooklyn DAC+ loses its studio connections to make way for a streaming board to become the Brooklyn Bridge. I added the Bridge to Mytek's matching 250wpc (into 8 Ohms) Class D Brooklyn AMP for a Kallax-Fi system that will satisfy high-end loudspeaker listeners AND high-end headphonistas.

I love your videos. I learn SO MUCH! Your style of "talking to your audience" instead of "talking AT your audience" is very welcoming. You invite us into your home, give us a tour, offer some great looking coffee and then go about introducing us to audio equipment in a very professional way. Not a "cold" professional way, but in a way that you would speak to your best friend. I also take note of your preferred music. Its all great.

Love your reviews. Sadly I can't afford most if this stuff, other than the Kallax shelves :) But, mate, that version of Grace Jones you mentioned. I never knew about this. Amazing, loved it, so much more weight and power. (I imagine there are proper audiophile words to explain the difference but I don't know them) Anyway, thanks for that.

I love my Atom, I run it with a class D hybrid Cyrus Stereo 200 and ATC SCM11. The Atom gives me the Naim attributes of timing and rhythm and the power amplifier and speakers give me the detail and responsiveness. The Atom I bought after watching your review.

Hey John ! I see you have home made proper coffee- I do too . I buy beans and grind it every morning.. I have a Russell Hobbs 9704 electric grinder with an adjustable grind setting and a hand held Hario ceramic burr grinder for a more consistent grind (but it IS manual and takes a few minutes to hand grind) For brewing I prefer the Hario V60 method for a smooth coffee but the cafetiere can be OK and is cheaper (no throw away filter) and quicker with less faff. P.S. I like your attitude and the way you have "come out" to embrace the term Audiophile although still not identified as one publicly yet . Oh and Great interesting review also. Thanks, Ado .

Before I leave this earth, some HiFi audio pundit/reviewer will talk about Andrew Jones speakers and not just talk about his cost conscience speaker lines, but will also review the ADANTE speaker series!!! Socks in the ports?! That's nutty. :-) It would seem Mytek is just putting window dressing on the Brooklyn line. No major leaps forward since the original Brooklyn. Thanks for the video. Entertaining.

The sock tweak in the rear port is old hat I am afraid :-). A mate had a similar problem with bass control with floorstanders. The tweak I came up with was toilet rolls. Yes you heard me. Removing just enough paper so that the roll would fit nice and snug into the rear port, therby reducing the circumference of the port to that of the roll. Worked a treat!. Also, it was possible to push the roll in and out a few inches, which helped with fine tuning the bass even further. Love your reviews. 👍

Local storage can also be accessed from a hard-drive connectedto the ethernet, even perhaps a computer like my Mac Mini running Roon. Grumpy old man, NOT! Just set in your ways, which isn’t a bad thing. Even though we don’t share music genres. Keep doing what your doing. One more thing, I do have the original Brooklyn and a sotm streamer, love your opinion and inclusion of the comparison. iE; one box solution, otherwise don’t bother. Well done review in every way! Just read about a niggle and the WDHD, connect to the Mac and add music via Roon. Done, let me know how it works for you. I’ve owned the Brooklyn for some time now.

Thanks for the video! I know this video was not about the ELACs, but I wonder if you'd be better off getting the floor standing Navis speakers instead of the Brooklyn amp and the UniFi speakers. The Brooklyn amp of course will give you more flexibility in the future to change out the speakers but I wonder which one would sound better
@DarkoAudio
@DarkoAudio 5 жыл бұрын
That's a valid point for the ELAC but what about other speakers? So few models have an active variant. But even with the Navis we'd still need the Bridge for headphoning, hi-res audio support and vinyl.

I guess the big deal between the Mytek and Naim systems is that (in the UK at least) the Mytek is double the price at ~£4400 v £2200 for the Naim. As an Atom owner I'd be interested to hear the Mytek though, I wonder if the Uniti Nova at a similar price point can rein in the bass response, which is something I've been noticing in my system as well, albeit with much less substantial Quad 11L speakers.

yes I liked when you mentioned about current delivery, this is a more important factor than Watts, where people seem to get hung up on that. @richardsinger01

John sweda I come across this statement a lot. Can someone explain it to me? Watts = current squared times resistance. Since the resistance of the load is fixed, how is delivering a certain number of watts any different to delivering the requisite amount of current? More watts = more current, surely? What am I missing?
@juanmillaruelo7647
@juanmillaruelo7647 3 жыл бұрын
Audio deals with 'AC'. We are dealing with impedance, and this swings considerably in speakers and amps' ability to handle them. It is not a fixed value like that of a resistor load. These impedance swings are at the heart of a successful amp/speaker match (or mismatch).

Another informative video as always, but I just don't have the same compassion with the latest digital products that come and go as you do, but you do this for a living so I understand. My issue with digital is the "planned obsolesence" factor, along with the fake, fatiguing sound it produces. Analog does not have that aspect to it, AND sounds better, but the kids tethered to their phones will never know the difference unless their parents show them the difference.
