John Mew's patients usually don't need wisdom teeth extraction, that should really tell you which method is superior. I'll take John Mew's approach over traditional orthodontics any day thank you.

Healthy teeth are healthy teeth. No one should have the right to extract. We need our teeth! . Orthodontists in my day were all trained in a quackery for assembly line money grabbing. The dentists were in on it too by sending them patients. Extract and retract was run of the mill. A lifetime of regret is a long time . Nobody should have the the right to wreck a facial profile [with all the associated complications] of a teenager let alone an adult!

We at JawHacks respectfully disagree. Extractions are mutilations. They are amputations. They result in the face not growing to full potential, or to shrinking as a result of the loss of place-holding teeth. Furthermore, they are totally unnecessary in the era of expanders like MSE (Maxillary Skeletal Expander). Instead of extracting premolars to create space to straighten teeth, just expand the jaws instead.

We should all lobby to change the dental association's official term from "tooth extraction" to "tooth amputation". It's hilarious when dentists try to justify extractions. You're removing healthy teeth period.

I had Invisalign to close small gaps aged 43. Dentist did IPR so similar effect to extractions. Destroyed my profile. Retruded my mandible & maxilla, over 100 postural & musculoskeletal problems. 5 years later reversed Invisalign, massive postural & profile improvement. Still not out the woods but getting better. Ruined my life. Orthodontics highly dangerous.

The father of extraction orthodontics (Charles H. Tweed) also claimed to have “hundreds of patients” whose facial profile was not adversely affected by treatment and even claimed that most were improved. Very similar to the claim you make here. So I downloaded his book as a pdf and looked at his cases. Flat faces. Flat faces as far as the eye can see. Hundreds of potentially attractive human beings mutilated, with a life of potential TMJ issues, sleep breathing problems, reduced attractiveness to look forward to. On the bright side, he paved the way for thousands of orthondontists to enjoy his reproducible business model and send their kids to private school.👏

2:22 or 2:23 those are NOT pics of someone who had Premolars/Bicuspids Extracted, could've atleast shown actual pics for this vid, that and between incorrectly referring to Ben and Quinton, as "A Set Of Twin Girls" there's a bunch of flaws with this vid.... what if i have bimaxillary protrusion and all my teeth are sloped outside asking for a friend , will it still flatten me out and narrow my jaw

I don't get the people who talk about things they are clueless about. They choose to be ignorant, even when faced with clear bright enlightening logic, contrary to their false beliefs. Saying that retraction doesn't shrink spaces and therefore faces is like saying that water isn't wet, but crying once your house floods. Stupid analogy but they say one thing, and at the same time contrary to itself.

My 4 wisdom teeth were extracted for my brackets 😢 My face lost charm and roundness plus the angle from neck to chin / jawline is less sharp. I cried for some months after the brackets were removed. All to straighten my upper front teeth which were a bit forward. I asked my dentist will my lips / profile change. He said " no you have enough lip" to have a small adjustment, it won't change visibly. Well it did!

Extraction of wisdom teeth or supernumerary teeth will not change the facial profile, but treatments with premolar extractions can indeed give a flattern aspect to the face

What is the solution to this then? I have this and teeth crowding,I'm 24 They told me to extract 4 premolars plus all wisdom teeth but I don't want to extract premolars

Mike Mew claims he has never been granted a debate on the cause of crooked teeth by any Orthodontist on the planet. Regardless of who is wrong here, at least grant his request for a debate and go chat with him. It could literally be a quick zoom call! Just have a debate!

I bring this up a lot, But on a British clinic's website, ("Dentistinbournemouth") they mentioned some Orthodontic case examples.... One of them was a girl treated Non-Extraction, with DAMON Braces in under a year (10 months) They said that she and her mother found them instead, as she was REFUSED NON-EXTRACTION by an NHS (National Health Service) Orthocuntist, (who would've insisted upon her having the "4 on the floor" even though it wasn't Necessary), and that it the "extraction-plan" that was proposed would take around 2 years to complete.... In that "classic 60 minutes episode" (With Derek Mahony, and John Mew) Derek Mahony mentioned that he previously saw 163 people seeking 2nd opinions, and said that all were able to be treated without Extractions, (whereas they were told elsewhere they'd need the "4 on the floor" and possibly their Wisdom Teeth out too).... He also said that it's unfortunately very easy to have a "Production Line" in Orthodontics, of patients coming in of around a certain age, getting a certain number of teeth out, then put through the Orthodontic Process.... (Rather than treating earlier, during Mixed Dentition before all 28 teeth have erupted....)
