Episode 247 features an interview with astrologer Arielle Guttman about her work on using myth as an interpretive device in astrology, as well as the importance of the synodic cycle of Venus, providing insight into the upcoming Venus retrograde in Gemini.

During the course of the interview we talk about Arielle's background in astrology and how she got into it, her work with Jim Lewis on relocational astrology, the use of myth as a tool to help explicate archetypes in astrology, and her work on what she calls the Venus Star Point.
The Venus Star Point in natal astrology is the conjunction between Venus and the Sun that occurred prior to your birth, which creates a sensitive degree in your chart, and also locks in a resonance between that phase of Venus whenever it reoccurs later in your life.

Arielle came out to Denver to give a talk for our local astrology group during the second week of March, but this was just as the COVID-19 pandemic was breaking out in the US, so we switched her talk to a webinar on Saturday, March 14, and then recorded this podcast the following day.

WOW around 42:50 when Arielle says Pluto/Ceres transit is indicative of a custody battle, I can 100% attest to this! I checked my ephemeris and trPluto was squaring my natal ceres the same month in 2014 when all my family court battles began.

it's so interesting what was said about the Venus star point in 4 and 8years - because Chinese Astrology also has a general rule that people born 4 and 8 years apart "get along well with each other" and even though they do not attribute this to Venus (generally speaking but i'm not an expert by any means), it's fascinating that all these astrological rules actually line up. I’m an evening star person. Venus was conjunct the sun the day before I was born at 7 degrees Aquarius, conjunct my natal Pallas Athena. Lots to ponder on which I love. Great episode 🤩

I’ve marked my calendar for the 40 day Venus Retrograde 💖. Fascinating to see what happens this year. Albeit 3 years later... I want to thank Arielle Guttmann for sharing all the work on the Venus Starpoint. I have Venus 5° Cap in the 12th house. As a "hidden" Venus in the 12th with all of its negative connotations, I have never paid much attention as what positivity could come out of it. I am excited to learn more.

Really interesting! I wonder how this would intertwine with zodiacal releasing, as it sounds like Arielle uses this technique in a similar way.

Can the Star Point be interpreted in aspects to natal point/planets other than the conjunction? I have mine at 29°36' Leo (Evening Star) - and while I have no natal planets there (I'm a Leo Midheaven, but it's at 12°22'), it does form a grand trine with my natal Jupiter (29°50' Aries), Descendant (0°51' Taurus) and Venus herself (1°36' Taurus), as well as Uranus and Saturn (both in Capricorn at 0°43' and 1°36' respectively). Do you think there's any significance to that? And of course, excellent video as usual!

Impossible to say for certain but I believe I would have been approximately conceived on the Venus Cazimi before my birth.

Educational one, bought straightaway the e-book. Maybe a thing to consider for you and as well for Arielle is that this years conjunction falls on the Uranus north node and on The festival of Pentecost which is in the end the festival of overcoming polarity, marriage of heaven and earth,. It has always been explained, for almost 2000 years as the festival for the future, but that future has to arrive sometime. And why not in this spectacular year with the great sun-pluto-saturnus-mercury conjunction last january and neptune at home in Pisces, causing piscean/neptunian storms. All astrologers always seem to forget that Pentecost is visible in nature as fruit-setting ( the fysical sign for the marriage between heaven and earth) and ment to be in the human mind the pinnacle time of Gemini tide, the festival of the Holy Spirit. Just consider it in these years that big astrology is coming alive. Thanks for the video, personally, at the conjunction in 2004 i had the biggest life changing event of my life and i feel that same energy building up again. Thanks for Arielle as well. Am a Virgo 8 VSP i just learned by the way.

Although I pop in and out, what caught my eye this time was the word Mythic. I have the Mythic Tarot cards they were given to me on the first Saturn return. They're now tucked away in a box bc of the well worn state they're in . Having used them a lot in those days, looking back I see how much they helped me through so, so much catastrophes in my life. Without those cards, my life might of gone down quite a different road completely, in a way they were my saviour.

Another amazing episode! I love the energy of three gentle evening stars in conversation. ✨. I have one question and not sure where to ask... I had a difficult time deciphering what the “arms” and the “ legs” are on the star ....at first I understood that arms (creative) are Aries and Scorpio and the legs (karmic) are Gemini and Leo. But I am sure I am wrong because Arielle said Megan is an Aries Venus star point and Harry is a Gemini and they are creative. So for example what point is the Karmic connection to for a Gemini star point? Apologies for the long winded and potentially confusing question, especially if the answer is obvious!

I was confused too at first so I checked her site; it seems the creative relationship is arm to arm, following the outline of the circle (or 1 arm apart) and the karmic is following the lines of the pentagram in the direction of the arrows (or 2 arms apart). Which means creative would be for instance Scorpio-Leo and Capricorn-Leo as for karmic. Hope it helped =)

Wow, this is an unnervingly accurate technique. My VSP is at 17° Aries in the 9th house, within a 1° sextile of my natal Mars in Gemini. (It is also exactly conjunct my mother's natal Sun, which I consider to be the most defining relationship of my life.) I've had a job for 3.5 years that I've never been especially passionate about, but all of a sudden, the closer we get to this upcoming Venus Rx the more I feel like I am going to explode if I stay there one more day. (Trying to tame that Mars energy, because who quits a steady paycheck during a global pandemic, but...) Also - my long-term partner's VSP is 3° Aquarius, exactly conjunct the south node in my 7th house of relationships. I moved out just before Saturn ingressed into Aquarius, which I assumed was the end of our relationship, but it turned out that having our own space ended up redefining and strengthening it.

Really good episode and probably saved me from “retiring” from astrology for a while. There’s a point where I get grumpy but this renewed my interest being in an area I’m interested in. Well, the lots are becoming my exact core interest while I’m also referencing mythology surprised how they’ve changed a little in astrology. Just want to ensure they’re accurate especially after the libra myth making more sense than more modern interpretations. Scorpio is scorpio, it has to be scorpio.. but if Athena is the yin mars it should be associated. I’m sticking with it. Just saying, if you look at Chris Brennan through the lens of both Athena and mars he makes sense. Strategic, methodical, good at weaving information and hosts a podcast etc.. makes more sense than the other. Still. Scorpio is scorpio. Constellations and all, just saying explaining the zodiac sign makes more sense as Athena. The tragedy about Venus is how modern religions have literally demonized it where it’s the actual devil. Many sort of venus cults pose sarcastically as satanic religions just because they’ll be accused of it regardless, it’s also a hotbed of conspiracy theories. Here Comes the Sun was the first thing that popped in my head and… many weird conspiracy theorists who think Paul McCartney died and was replaced as some satanic conspiracy probably have that song as proof the Beatles were satanic replicants or something. 🤣 Trying to decide what to study first, great show.

When I was at the pyramids at Tikal a Mayan elder told me the true date had little to do with 2012 and was winter solstice 2011. That was the date of the ceremony event I reference here. I would find astrological research of this to be quite fascinating.

In Astrology and also other spiritual or occult practices Venus also stands for money. The Greek myth tells that Aphrodite was born on the island of Cyprus or Kythera out of the foam of the sea (Poseidon, Neptunus in Latin), which I find quite interesting as this implies that Venus (money) is a "product" that was born out of spirituality (Poseidon/Neptun). I also regard the phases/cycles of Venus to be very important (waxing, waning, New Venus, Full Venus, direct, retrograde, evening star, morning star). Of course you should also have a look if Venus ist combust, under the beams of the sun, or in cazimi position.

Solar eclipse the day before I was born and a Venus star point the day after I was born (born with sun conjunct Venus with Venus retrograde). Seems like I use the one that happened 15 hours after I was born.

My ears pick up when talking about Venus Furies, and the Pandemous Goddess. I was hoping to hear about our Inferior Conjunction History with Venus, whereby being "downwind" from our dusty companion, at her closest radial tangent, possibly affecting our atmosphere from solar wind passing by an invisible trail of dust from Venus that always seem to coincide the plagues or pandemics. Does Astrology history show Venus inferior conjunctions during plagues?

Really enjoyable so far but I’m 45 minutes in and Leisa going “mhm” kinda loudly between Arielle’s sentences is a bit distracting. Perhaps let the guest speaker finish their phrasing more often!
