Speaking as someone whom is part Native American, (Lakota primarily), the depiction of a Wendigo being Deer-like is actually a Newer version of their depictions, although there are other creatures like the Deer Woman whom can appear like a deer. The Wendigo actually appear more human-like but with elongated and twisted features, grey and rotting skin and become almost emaciated. Other versions claim that their feet begin burning so much they fall off or are burned black from hiw fast they run on the wind. Until Dawn, a popular video game that came out awhile back, followed the original story's depiction of them very closely. Thanks for the video, this was interesting! 🥰

My paternal Grandmother is Half Seneca Nation, Bear Clan. She would always tell me and my cousins to beware the black heart and shape shifting of Wendigo. I think regardless of tribe or tradition, Wendigo serves as a warning of the darkness that can lie within all of us.

What creature caught your attention? Which mythical creature is your preferred one from this list and why? Mine is the Akhlut (the reason I chose it to show in the thumbnail). :)

I like the Amarok because it's not a malevolent creature; it only attacks when threatened or provoked. Also, I'm a big fan of wolves! I also think that the Barbegazi are adorable!

around 5:20 why do you depict the kura o kami as a western dragon (winged lizard vs the serpent like oriental dragon)?

wait, is not the chenoo a variation of the wendigo, just getting a different name because it is told of by non Algonquin tribes?

well.. not quite, because it s not the same mythical creature. Chenoo is considered a giant.

He's a storyteller and Historian. Telling tales is what we do and it is actually an important insight into the early psychology of developing cultures. Do you really have nothing better to do with your time than try and be an internet troll?
