If you’ve been following my blog and podcast, you know that I do a lot of my sourcing from China. But for many starting online entrepreneurs, traveling to China isn’t always feasible. So what can you do?
The good news is that you can get access to the world’s largest eCommerce marketplace, Alibaba, without leaving the comfort of your home.
It can be a great way to get what you need for less, but, just as you need to be careful in all your business dealings, you need to understand how to buy from Alibaba.

Damn you're good. It's honestly humbling to witness how far you'll go to end this madness. *Adriannotch* The compassion you have for the victims, and the people you know the scammers could be, and how you want everyone to be free of this sickening behaviour. It hurts to watch these videos, knowing so many people are scammed daily, but it's a reminder of the good which can be done by honest people in the face of such insidious perfidy. Please keep it up.

The only thing that stopped me from importing goods is the complexity of the customs and epa requirements. Some suppliers advertise epa certified but epa says a lot of those are not due to some minor changes in the product. Maybe it is smoother with non gasoline powered stuff

Wow that's a strong statement! What makes you think that negotiating the sample price is amateurish? From my own experience of dealing with different manufacturers over 10+ years, I think it's perfectly fine to do that and we did develop a good relationship with most of them. Some manufacturers open an higher price on their sample cost and actually expect a negotiation. This was coming out from the mouth of a sales rep after we became really close friend.

Don't rely on everything said. I have personal experience and I am one of the victims of the biggest scam called Trade Assurance. Alibaba's commission is "BLIND" for all the clear evidence for the seller's agreement breach and they support the unfair seller. Their behavior is completely offensive. They will tell you they can not see the difference between one white bear and the other black bear. They just will tell you that you are not a professional like the seller is. There are no such Alibaba rules related to the professionalism of the parties and moreover on the basis of which they decide which one side is and which other side is not a professional. People without honor. I trusted Alibaba Rules and now I am bitterly sorry. I wish someone had told me this before concluding my deal.

Very informative video. Learnt a lot. Besides the purchasing from Alibaba, and off course paying for shipping, isn't there USA custom duty? If so, how do you know how much it is for the product you buy? Also do these manufacturers ship door to door?

They do ship door to door which is the only way to go with all of my experiences. Just make sure you screen shot all of your chat sessions for proof when errors occurs.

Was trying to buy a mini-excavator. Contrary to what you're saying the price you may pay at the end may be cheaper, they have the excavators listed at very unrealistically prices. When you contact them, they tell you that's not a real price. Then hit you with a huge price.

I don't know if you ever heard from Steve or not but Steve had another video about avoiding paying duties by shipping your items to a 3PL service like ship Bob in either Mexico or their Canada warehouses, but that would only work if you're going to do FBM for Amazon or to your website customers, but you could check and see if Amazon has warehouses in Mexico or Canada then you would still be able to do FBA

@@shawnpan9248 I live in the United States 🇺🇸, Steve chou said that when items are shipped to the United States their is a customs fee to be paid for from China 🇨🇳, that's why he recommends using a service like ship Bob in Mexico 🇲🇽 or Canada 🇨🇦 to avoid customs duties. What is DDP??

@@brianhenson6141 Brian, DDP means Delivered Duty Paid，this agreement includes paying for shipping costs, export and import duties, insurance, and any other expenses incurred during shipping to an agreed-upon location in the buyer's country. Buyers just need to purchase the product and wait for delivery.
