This video is about the new Qantas non-stop service between UK and Australia. I flew Qantas B787 from London to Perth and onward to Sydney in Qantas Business Class.
In this Qantas London to Australia video:
1:04 - Qantas London Heathrow Lounge
3:06 - Qantas B787 London to Perth non-stop flight
14:45 - Qantas Perth Transit Lounge
16:16 - Qantas A330 domestic Perth to Sydney flight

Qantas seems to have mastered something special that no other airline has. Everything from the lounges, to the food, to the seat itself seems Casual and Contemporary, yet very Classy at the same time! Love it! Great video as always Sam!

Sam I think you did not fly that many airlines, as, in my opinion, Quantas isn't more than an average grey mouse amidst the population. (which does not specificly mean that they are not doing their job properly) The vid itself, as the majority of Sam's contributions, is indeed very nice

I hate to admit it, I haven't flown Qantas since the late 1970s. 747s back then routed SYD-HNL-LAX or SFO, no non-stops Australia to USA. Back then Qantas crews were 80% male FAs, called stewards. I certainly would never want to do that 16-hour flight in economy, it would probably kill me. Great video overview of this new service, lovely crew, food and wines looked really good. One quick story from the ancient days. I had to fly SYD-LAX once with a terrible head cold, I was nervous about an ear block or worse. I asked a steward what I should do, on descent he brought me a big bowl of hot water with infused with some sort of eucalyptus oil drops and a towel to put over my head. He told me to keep breathing in the vapors under the towel. I looked like an idiot (I'm sure) but wonder of wonders, no problems with blocked ears or burst eardrums. Those were the days on Qantas.

Dianne Williamson. I still remember the announcement back in the Stone Age, they called it “Australia’s around the world V jet serving Sydney and Nandi”. I didn’t want a non stop flight home because I wanted to see New Zealand and Fiji. At 67 it still was the trip of my life. Back in the day, they had youth hostels at every destination. The only requirement was to have a sheet body bag. They provided beds and blankets, everyone would be in the kitchen at meal time, fixing breakfast or dinner, as it was closed at lunch and the hostel would ask you to do a simple task, to help clean before you left each day. It made the flying affordable and fun, because you meet people just like you. I got a load of information from fellow travelers.

@Skrooge Lantay definition of a 90's kid are kids who lived and remembered that decade. Mainly kids born in the 80's but we're growing up in the 90's. You are not a 99's kid you were just born in the 90's. You didn't experience a damn thing, so quit trying to claim that time period because it sounds lame.

@Skrooge Lantay no they weren't, ad eveystilll they are the 2000's not the 90's. Just like the early 90's had some similarities to the 80's it was still can't completely different decade You are a millennial. You experienced the 2000's. It's okay to like the 90's, but you are not a 90's kid, because you spent a very short part of your life in the 90's. You grew up primarily in the 2000's. That is your decade. It may be a suck ass decade, but it is the one you grew up in.

@Skrooge Lantay you are not a 90's kid no matter how much you want to be. The 200's we're not the same as the 90's and you didn't experience most 90's things, because you were only 4 in the year 2000. Just deal with it.

I really appreciate the focus on food service in flights. Cooking is my life and profession so I find it fascinating how “luxury” meals are prepared on flights. Also, how the palate changes in high altitudes and inside a pressurized fuselage is soooo interesting. Sam, if you read this, please dedicate a video to the work and equipment of business and first class airline food preparation. Also, when you decide to stop doing KZfaq, do me a favor and make your last episode a documentary on the TRUE ATTITUDES AND FRUSTRATIONS of the cabin crews. I want a no-holds barred expose. Hi Sam it's great to see another aviation video of yours. The last time I flew with Qantas was back in 2003 from Hong Kong via Bangkok to London Heathrow. Back then the service was operated by two aircraft types this being the 767-300 & the 747-400ER It's good to know you now don't have to stop off anymore, although I do have to admit that I did enjoy the stop over in Bangkok Thailand as it was only 2 hrs which wasn't bad. Back then you could use your Cathay Pacific Marco Polo club card points on Qantas flights for free updates, great because it meant that I could use the business class lounge which was great. The flight was good and the service was as excellent as could be imagined for a 14+ hour flight. It's great to see Qantas is improving the quality and service it provides for its customers and I would love to travel with them again. Although it's now been nearly 18 years since my last visit to Australia again with Qantas as sadly the airline I would have originally travelled on went bust 2 years prior to this that being Ansett Australia Airlines.

Great review Sam, really like the way you make the cabin crew the stars of your video which is just so different to other podcasts! Brilliant stuff!

That cabin looks very good. What i think about this direct flight: Positive aspects: +It makes the travel shorter in time, +It makes it less hassle by skipping the stopover. The moment the doors close in the UK you’re practically in Perth, Negative aspects: -It shrinks the barrier for cheap people to go to Australia, -I guess a LOT of people will underestimate what such flight duration means and what it does to you physically and mentally.

So true. On any long haul flight one should wear compression socks to help prevent blood clots from forming.

Frank K Yes, and also walk around sometimes. Don’t stay sitting until you cannot handle it anymore. Set a 2 or 3 hour timer on your phone or so and go for a walk, stretch your legs and arms.

Frank K...I have made the Europe-Sydney flight more than 20 times. It is always a pain in the arse which I usually numb down with booze. I am fortunate to be able to tolerate alcohol at altitude, many people are not. If you drink, you automatically get exercise -first to get the next beer etc. and second to take a piss!

Richard van Pukkem I don’t know why people make such a ‘thing’ about the duration of this flight. I recently flew DFW-SYD with Qantas in Premium Economy on an A380. It was 16hrs 20mins across more time zones than I care to think about. The important thing is getting frequent exercise and drinking lots of water. It was long and boring (dark the whole way) but there are worse things on the planet.

Why are you all fussing about flight duration and what it does t to the body. These new planes like the Dreamliner are pressured to lower altitudes to help combat such issues.
