N2Darkness LOTR collection and display room 2.0 - Lord of the Rings / Movie Props and statues

3 жыл бұрынAfter moving to a new house it was an opportunity to build a dedicated display room for all of my Lord of the Rings collectibles and custom props. All the woodwork, masonry and painting was done myself. The weapon wall is a french cleat system with each item having a custom holder for ease of moving around without nails or screws.
Many custom pieces you won't find anywhere else such as Aeglos, the spear of Gil-Galad, Boromir's shield, Twilight Witchking crown, Eowyn's shield, Prancing pony sign, Shire salt box, Palantir stand, Shire sign, and many more all made by me.
Statues are from Weta Collectibles and Sideshow as well as a few custom pieces.

That is the most bad ass man cave ever! I just want to sit on that couch, after a little Old Toby, and take it all in. Everything seems to have a proper place and even though there is a large volume of pieces, it doesn’t feel cluttered. Well done.

Thank you! I need to do an updated video of the display room as a few changes and additions have been made. Most notably is the removal of the full size Ringwraith and the addition of Bilbo's writing desk.

@@BenjaminSchenk Thanks Ben! The Treebeard case was a salvaged craigslist find, that I used the glass from and rebuilt to match the rest of the woodwork in the room. The silhouette was a custom laser cut piece I designed and had cut from someone on Etsy. I really enjoy the room in the low light, if it wasn't for summer I would have also had the fireplace on. It's a nice place to sit and enjoy the collection.

You can still find lots of these older pieces on the secondary market as a lot of people now go for the new bigger statues.

Some people have really great LOTR/Hobbit collections but yours is by far the best displayed one I've seen. It's not just a collection in cases in a room, the whole room is part of the display. I just watched your video where you build a full size replica of Bilbo's desk which just blew me away. Why on earth did you turn off the comments on that video ? There's no way anyone could say anything negative about that. Unless it was because so many people were asking you to build them one. You are a true artist.

Thank you! The display room needs to be just as immersive as the books and movies, with as much love and care and detail. Otherwise it would not be doing them justice, beside I really like building it and sitting in there and enjoying the space. I have turned comments off of my Instagram videos, from the tons of stupid questions or the 100 emoji replies.

Thanks, it's impossible to make enough room for those Prime 1 pieces. I'm just about at max capacity as it is and will only focus on smaller items from now on.

Amazing video, it feels like a journey through Middle Earth watching this. I got so much nostalgia, brought me right back to the films / playing LotR games. How long have you spent collecting this? Also, do you know the estimated worth/ price for a collection like this? Curious, thinking about the scope, or time it will take to accumulate something even close to your collection. Just gotta say that your displays are beautiful, I especially liked the wall with swords, axes etc.

No I don't. I do have a sterling silver plated in 9ct gold ring from Jen Hansen with no inscription or hallmarks with silver chain. He is the maker of the One Ring for the movie. I have it on top of my Redbook in the coffee table.

Always! That's the horrible thing about being a collector. I'd eventually like to get some the rings in good quality. Legolas's bows is another high on my list, but also want to make quite a bit of pieces as well that aren't available to buy.

Amazing collection and layout! Can I ask how you did your Shards of Narsil? Did you source from the UC release and separate from the backboard, or maybe cut up a UC Narsil? We aren't fans of the board on the released UC Shards, and want to do something similar to what you have done.... Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, just like the reply on the other video. It is a custom cut up UC Narsil. But I have seen other remove the pieces from the Shards plaque and display them separately. There are little stubs that may need to be removed depending on how you want to display it.

What a beautiful collection you have & I am also a collector of LOTR & mostly Weta statues & I need your help. I’ve finally moved to our new home & want to display all of my statues & I do have roughly 100 statues & I was wondering where I can buy the Treebeard case & I also have more bigger statues that I’ll need display cases for like Gandalf & Frodo Masters Collection, Cave Troll in Moria, Rivendell, new Sauron from Weta etc.. plus tons of other 1/6 scale statues. Please help, I could sure use your advice. Thank you!

Thank you! Unfortunately that is a real problem and one many collectors have. I have either found some on my local craigslist and modified them or built my own. Another option I have seen other collectors use is Moducase but can be expensive and take upwards to a year to receive. Maybe check with local custom cabinet builders?

They were custom made by a leather worker and took over a year to receive, I don't recommend them again and look elsewhere, maybe Etsy.

It is a Jen Hansen sterling silver 9ct gold plated size 11 ring with no inscription. It was the cheapest option I could get at the time. They don't offer them anymore unfortunately.

Something I built with a cloak and mannequin I found on ebay. The gauntlets were commissioned through an armor and the feet the Dark horse Armory.

Bilbo's parents Bungo Baggins and Belladonna Took. In the movie, the paintings were based on Peter Jackson and his wife Fran Walsh.

It was a custom made piece by the sculptor named Kyle on the Flame of Udun forum many years ago. You could check the forum as there is a thread about recasting old pieces and you could ask, but you do need to be a member.

I've made a couple for myself, but never to sell. The scabbard for Sam's sword is very intricate leather strapping and something I've never done. I'd look for someone much more skilled then me to commission one.
