Friends, let us tell you, Nariman Irani was the producer of the film "Don". Who was also a well-known cinematographer of Bollywood. Before "Don", Nariman Irani had made a film named "Zindagi Zindagi". In which there was a big star cast like Dutt, Waheeda Rehman and Ashok Kumar, but that film flopped badly. Due to this film, producer Nariman Irani had incurred a debt of twelve lakh rupees. Which was a huge amount at that time. Due to such a huge debt, Nariman Irani used to be very worried and stressed.
Friends, in such a situation, Amitabh Bachchan, Zeenat Aman and Chandra Barot advised Nariman Irani to pay off the debt by making another film.
Friends, you should know that Nariman Irani's friendship with Amitabh Bachchan, Zeenat Aman and Chandra Barot happened during the making of the film "Roti Kapda Aur Makaan". Nariman was the cinematographer of that film. And Chandra Barot used to be the assistant director of director Manoj Kumar. While Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman were working as ace actors in that film. This was the time when Amitabh Bachchan had become a big name in the film industry after the success of the film "Zanjeer".
Amitabh and everyone else assured Nariman that they would work in his film without taking any money. If the film becomes a hit then we will take our fee, otherwise we will not take it.

On the advice of these friends, Nariman Irani got ready to make another film. The responsibility of direction of the film was given to Chandra Barot. And Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman took the responsibility of playing the lead characters.
now the question was where to get the story for the film. In such a situation, Amitabh Bachchan advised Nariman Irani to take a story from Salim-Javed only. After the trust of Salim-Javed, Nariman Irani took that story, and coincidentally Amitabh Bachchan and Chandra Barot also liked the story.
There is also an interesting story as to why the film was named "Don". In fact, writer duo Salim-Javed used to call this story a "Don" story. Chandra Barot also liked the same name. Seeing this, Nariman Irani registered the film with the name "Don". Whereas Manoj Kumar advised Nariman Irani that since an underwear brand named "Don" is very popular in Mumbai, it would be better to name the film "Mr. Don". But director Chandra Barot insisted on keeping the name of the film as "Don" and finally the name of the film became "Don".
Apart from Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman, the film had Iftekhar, Pran, Om Shivpuri, Pinchu Kapoor, McMahon, Jagdish Raj, Satyan Kappu, Kamal Kapoor, Helen and some other stars.
Producer Nariman Irani also made some changes in the original story of the film.
Friends, when director Chandra Barot narrated the script of the film "Don" to his guru Manoj Kumar, he advised Chandra Barot that since it is an action film, there should be a light song in its second half. So that the audience can also enjoy light entertainment.
