Mike and I head up to the Northern Cape to explore the famous Namaqua Eco 4x4 Route & Richtersveld National Park travelling all along the Orange River. At 600km in total, this route is the longest in South Africa and also one of the prettiest.

I think I'm starting to get to an idea that long distant drives to ""inconvenient" places may not be a good idea. Silly idea maybe but damn, nothing sucks as much as needing help, somewhere unfamiliar on a Sunday

With touring/overlanding it's always a big factor and part of the game, especially if the vehicle has been modified. Luckily this happened in the beginning of the trail and my cousin could help us out. Always advisable to travel with at least 2 vehicles. Looking back now, it's part of the experience! :)

Never work under a Defender propped up on a jack on a cinder brick! If you have to, slide the wheel under the chassis, even then dont get any bit of you underneath - like a leg under a brake disc : /

Definitely! One only realize afterwards what safety precautions you forgot to take during the haste and frustrations that you got so sidetracked that the situation could've easily gone from bad to even worse.
