NAD Electronics

Күн бұрын

Since 1972, through its cutting-edge amplifier designs and audiophile-quality electronics, NAD Electronics has delivered “Truth in Power” to a loyal base of audio enthusiasts and music lovers. Throughout its 50 year history, the company has taken an unorthodox path to success with clever engineering, some plucky business savvy, and a dedicated network of partners willing to bail it out of a number of near-death situations. Still, it has endured - against the odds, some might say - and with its eyes firmly locked on value, simplicity, performance, and innovation, it continues to thrive today.
Celebrate with us at nadelectronics.com/50years.

*Featuring NAD's VP of Product Development and Manufacturing, Taresh Vadgama, starting at the 10-minute mark. Taresh has been an instrumental part of the NAD engineering story, and we are grateful for his contributions over the years.

Congratulations NAD Electronics on your 50th anniversary! As a filmmaker, I was impressed with the content, but also the production of the documentary. Brilliantly done! I thought I knew the history of NAD, but I was delighted and surprised by many things I didn't know. I owned my first NAD receiver in the early 1980s and enjoyed it for a number of years. I then sold it for MORE than I paid for it. Having said that, I regretted that move because the replacement receiver I was sold wasn't what it was promised to be. My only consolation is that I have little doubt my original NAD is still performing beautifully for a new owner somewhere. "The best solutions are often counterintuitive!" Congratulations again!

Sorry for slightly changing the subject , but need to say that such very well intended words by St. Francis perhaps fittingly apply to starting a new company of electronics for example, but surely it won't apply to other specific sectors of human endeavors , certainly NOT to the public affairs of a nation, to politics. Tragically many an evil man found their excuse to wreak havoc on society, causing much pain and great sorrows based on that first sentence by St. Francis of ''Start by doing the necessary''; most of them who began thinking way too highly of themselves , later took attributions over other people's lives and future that they never should have. Not in vain, Jesus God incarnate, ''God who saves'', The Truth, The Word of God The Father, ''The Logos'' or the information like St John called Him, who super cedes in wisdom the original Francis , like it does a zillion times more, this new Francis ''the pinko'' pope ( as many Latinos already call him with good reason) said that by ''its fruits NOW you know the tree...''. Great for NAD and their triumphant work to this day. Wish more American companies would have similar, and even greater , of their laudable type of success, but since you R. C. Anderson wrote that you are a film maker, there is a theme to develop on a much needed documentary , either by you, if you still at it, or by the Hollyweird crowd, on making the American spirit GREAT AND A WINNER AGAIN FOR ALL THE GOOD REASONS .Just and justly saying...Shema!!!.

I invested in the C399 with the Blue OS and the C268 to power my Cornwall IV’s and Heresy IV’s, with room to add the Forte IV’s in the next year. I’m not a rich man and I can tell you I’m very happy with my NAD products. Especially being able to use a digital graphic EQ is wonderful. Point of the story is if you want quality, you get what you pay most of the time so quit complaining.

I built my first audio amplifier using germanium AC187/188 output transistors, using my pocket money, when i was in 4th grade in 1981. I used DIY stuff until i got my first job and when I could afford to buy a really good music system, my entry into the audiofile world was with a NAD 106 preamp and NAD 216thx poweramp. I have changed many amplifiers since and today I run a NAD C160 preamp and a NAD 208thx poweramp and have an original NAD 3020 for casual listening. The constant over this journey is that I've used only NAD. One thing that was not mentioned in the documentary is that most of the older NAD amps were built with commonly available components. Hence, if a service technician is familiar with NAD design elements, these amps are very easy to service/repair thus extending the lifespan and adding further value to the experience. I felt really proud watching this documentary and will continue on with my NAD journey, knowing that I am part of something special. Congrats on completing 50 years, many more to come. Thanks NAD!

NAD fans like me loved the industrial aesthetic of NAD gear in the 1980s. Nothing plain jane about it at all. Audiophiles recognised the honesty of NAD designs, which eschewed bells and whistles in favour of good solid engineeering. My first amp was the 7240PE, which I still have (along with its box). It is now serving out its second life as part of a vintage hifi setup. I'm glad I didn't sell it.

As a Bluesound POWERNODE owner, your sister company, I found this documentary fascinating and it really gave me (as a relative audiophile newbie) a real insight into the history of NAD and its brand ethos. Whilst I'm very happy with my POWERNODE, I look forward to upgrading to NAD, probably a M10 V2, when I can afford to - which in our present UK cost of living crisis may be sometime sadly. Also, I loved the quotes!

I’ve been reading audio publications for roughly 35 years and have literally never seen a negative review of any NAD product. I personally bought a c375BEE integrated amp in 2010. Its combination of clean power and a flexible feature set have allowed it to remain the hub of my system for over a dozen years, even with the addition of a sub and a miniDSP module. If I ever upgrade to a new integrated, you can bet that I’ll look to NAD!

Yes it’s good stuff. I currently have a 3060 integrated amplifier from 1978. It needs to be re-capped but nonetheless it still sounds amazing. Their preamplifier stage is second to none and is why it sounds so amazing. I believe yours is a 20 W per channel and mine is rated at 60 W per channel. Most people don’t even understand what a true 20 W RMS is capable of. 60 W RMS is way more than most people would ever need. Not to mention that NAD equipment was always under rated. Your 20 W amplifier probably puts out closer to 50 W because they were always very underrated!! not like the cheap crap we see today, (1000 watts lol BS)

I have worked in an audio shop for thirteen years where we sold high end audio but also systems for the lower budget. NAD was our main product in that range. Just two experiences from that era: - We had a rather fun way of selling the brilliant 310 integrated amplifier by showing its stability. We hooked it up with a large loudspeaker on one terminal and shortcutted the other terminal with a lead pencil. We played something like "Great balls of fire" loudly and because of the high current the lead pencil would catch fire. The 310 sounded great by the way. - On another occasion I sold the 712 receiver paired with a set of T+A Helios Midi 2 loudspeakers and placed it at the user's home. That combo sounded just mindblowingly good in that room. A value for money that was very hard to beat. Here's to another 50 years for NAD!

Congratulation to NAD! I owned the S-300 NAD integrated amp beautiful /solid build and great sound not cheap but it's worth the price. Sold it after 20 years I went for the NAD C -388 as I like the Module upgrade option and added BluOS as I use Roon in My I-Mac and it works flawlessly with BluOS. After over 50 years in HiFi with various systems etc. I came to the conclusion I like to have convenience (at my age of 74 years), avoid cable salad, keep it simple, and as I hold residents in Bali a tropical country, and don't like AC power D runs cool. Besides that, I have the NAD C-546BEE as I still like to listen to CDs. I had a good experience with NAD when I needed their advice /help in regards to the VISO Headphone when I lost my connection cable within days they send me a new one free of charge!NAD is a great Company with the right philosophy. A fantastic documentary, really well put together. Learnt lots of things I didn't know before. Hats off NAD! I sold my NAD 3020i amplifier back in 1992/3 and replaced it with the 302. Wish I hadn't. I also sold the 302 last year after having owned it for more than 30 years (rather silly) and then couldn't find another. The closest I found was the 304. Probably the same except for a few LED's. I even had the NAD 6325 cassette deck, which I sold many years ago in the late 90's. Well, I just bought a fully restored NAD 6325 cassette deck in beautiful condition, once again. Recorded my first cassette Side A onto a Maxell XLS-II 100 just this afternoon. Wow! just nostalgic. As a tribute to NAD and a treat to myself I just ordered the NAD C3050 LE. I was lucky enough to do some contract work for NAD in the early 80's when Peter Tribeman was running the show out of Massachusetts . A friend worked there full time and said they needed some temps. The 3020's needed an upgrade of some sort and I worked in a room with a bunch of other wonks soldering away. When I left, I took advantage of a generous employee discount and lugged home a 3080 which is still in use. It was a fun company to work for back then. Congrats to NAD, happy anniversary!

12:52 The NAD 3020 will go down in history as being one of the most amazing integrated amplifiers ever. again, their preamp stage is what makes it sound so damn good. Also looking at the quality of the componentry inside and therefore I don’t care where it’s built. And again, their amplifiers were always underrated. This 20 WATT RMS (rated) amplifier was probably pushing out closer to 50 or more WATTS per channel RMS. that’s how you make a name for yourself. You under promise and over deliver!!

Back in 1990-1991, I bought my first audio system, I was 20 years old and of course didn’t have the amount of money I would like to spend, so I needed to find the best my money can get. I went to a local shop in Mexico City named “Sala Chopin” that were a NAD dealer in those years and bought the NAD 7020 receiver and a pair of Boston Acoustic’s A40 speakers, and then my father gave me his old Bose 501 III series and a Technics SL-XP7 portable CD player… that little NAD sounded beautiful and had a lot of power, I put the four speakers at the same time and it always delivered… I miss my little NAD receiver.

l never owned the 3020, but I did get my start with a 3140 in the '80s which was a lovely sounding integrated. It did suffer issues of reliability, but getting it repaired wasn't too difficult and I was loath to let it go.

This is such a wonderful documentary on the history of this great company! Congratulations NAD! Thank you for sharing it with us. Music is so emotional; as you retold the story of NAD, I recalled all the NAD products I’ve purchased over the years and how each contributed to so many incredible memories. Remarkably, all of my NAD products continue to be functional and in use, starting from a T750, to the C162, C272 combination, to the game changing C390DD and now to my current (and again game changing) M33. For nostalgia sake, I’ve also ordered the LE 50th anniversary edition. Here’s to another amazing 50 years for NAD!

I’ve always had at least one NAD component in my system, not out of brand loyalty but because they were the best for the price. I had a 3020B but had to sell it when I ran into financial trouble and now seriously regret it. That amp was _perfect._ It was in showroom condition and had never been thrashed. Much as I think the C338 at the heart of my current system is a good amp, I almost wish I still had the 3020B. And looking back, the guy who bought it got the bargain of the century. But at least I know it went to a good home.
