What throws it off even more is the fact that nothing else on the screen is in Japanese. Therefore you wouldn’t assume the currency is Yen

Finally people have figured this out. The original GT7 release date trailer also had incredibly expensive prices for tuning parts. It's all because they're using the japanese version of the game, which converts the price of everything to feel like yens.

its easy to Explain, people did not know that not every version has the same price. Because..credits are universal....if they wanted to have different currencies they could have did that since the start Dollar, Euro, Ruppes, yen, etc etc. credits system with different prices is weird.

@@fberdf No, it's not. The credit system is supposed to be analogous to the currency in the region. This system is based on two (3, really) of the regions where the game is played the most (i.e Japan, Europe, and the US), so there are two major splits between "western" (US and the UK, predominately), and "eastern" (Japan and surrounding regions). It's supposed to make the credits feel close enough to what you know, without being so specific as to need a separate currency for each country.

To be fair one might assume that a trailer in all English writing would maybe use the game version most English speakers play. And it’s not like there’s a $ or ¥ before the cost. Also with the way video games are going these days it’s not insane to assume this was done crazy micro transaction BS to get competitive tires….but yes in hindsight the Yen thing is obvious.

The prices in the trailer roughly represent Japanese Yen. That's it. I believe it's only in the JP version where credits are rated differently, everywhere else credits represent roughly the US Dollar. That's why the JP version gets two more zeroes on everything: prize credits, car prices, upgrade costs, etc.

When GT7 trailers were coming out the prices were like this. The Aston Martin DB12 was like 2mil in the game trailer but when the game came out it was like 200k so I don't see a reason to worry here. I'm glad they added them,hoping for those michelin tyre stickers for all cars not just race ones. Defo getting these for all my cars

I had assumed the high prices were for a Michelin version of the tyres, more expensive but better, and the original unbranded ones would still be there at their original prices. This makes more sense though.

Even though the credits in the game do not represent dollars or pounds, they do put prices of cars and items into a perspective that we can relate to. 30,000 credits for a low end car is very similar to a $30,000 car in the States. I'm sure Brits have the same perspective. So of course, you would also want those in Japan where the game originates to have that same perspective or feel when they spend "money" on cars and items. If you do the conversion - and yes, I know the conversion is not accurate nor is it intended to be - 2,800,000 yen is about $17,000 which not exactly represented in the game, but it gives it a more realistic feel for those who use yen as their local currency. Think about it this way, if they kept the credits the same in the US, UK and Japan, we would be spending 2.8 million credits for tires or players in Japan would be spending about 150 yen for a set of racing tires - both scenarios would feel ridiculous to both sides of the world.

It's simple, as in real life you have to take out 2 zeros, the price will be the same as now. Only now it's branded. This being said, they kept legendary cars prices going up, and the roulette tickets are a complete joke, it's a shame cause we're enjoying this game, beside this the new track and cars are very welcomed, although i would have preferred other track. I wish they give us more classic tracks Tokyo R246, special stage route 5 and 11 and some classic JGTC,DTM and Gt's from previous iterations of GT.

Ofc not. Michelin is now somekind of sponsor. So all tyres and marks must be Michelin. Thats how conctracts work its commercial for Michelin

Polyphony can agree to whatever contract is negotiated. They can say they will still use Dunlop, Firestone etc. on the old cars. Michelin could be just for the modern tires. The contract can be anything, Michelin on everything except Bugatti for instance. That said, it's probably for tires that we purchase at the tuning shop. Hopefully they didn't make a deal that will overwrite every other tire sticker. With PD's devotion to visual accuracy, it seems unlikely that EVERYTHING would become Michelin. I am worried about it though!

I already use Michelin in the vast majority of my custom liveries in GT7, with the exception of two Ferrari 458 GT3s, so if you’re like me in that aspect, you won’t even notice.

I know I was concerned about the price in the 1.49 overview video. Still odd that there is an exchange rate. Feels like someone could manipulate such a system unless under the covers there is CR and a YCR (Yen CR) currency. If I earn or purchase credits in YCR does the game convert my YCR to CR if I move to EUR or US? So many questions on how this system works if this is just an exchange rate thing.

Thanks. I was really worried there for a minute yesterday. Mostly because I couldn't, and still can't, see why they would convert to yen in the first place. Kaz/Poly haven’t cared about what the community wants in a long time now. You will buy what we give you and you will like it. You can clearly see it by the cheesy cars we keep getting in a lot of these updates. Rarely do we get late model cars. For crying out loud, the last non-hyper Ferrari we have is a 458 and it’s not even the Speciale. No 488, no Pista. I must say though, I can’t wait for the Scud. Been missing it since GT 5 OR 6 can’t remember. We only have the 458 GT3 also, no 488 gt3 much more a 296

I wish PD releases an expansion like FromSoft did to Elden Ring but not DLC. We would buy DVDs to put in our PS4/PS5 or PCs. It would have a lot of tracks, cars, engine swaps and we would pay US$39,99.
