But still Israeli politics is very complicated in superlative sense. For years since Netanyahu landslide victory a decade ago, no single party or block managed to muster a strong support from the election box, none. It tells a lot about what type of people these leaders (whoever they are) are dealing with. Juggling between every demands of even the minor members of a coalition shpuld be done with surgical precission and caution. Change of alliance happened many times in the past. 10 years ago nobody would have thoughy that this man who served under Netanyahu's led coalition would one day topple the longest serving PM in Israel history, but here he is, a new Prime Minister, with his former PM now in the opposition. Israel though a tiney community is politically very diversed from the far right, right and lefts, and centrists politcal leaders with many diversed aspirations. Spend just one session in the Israeli parliament aka the Knesset, and you will certainly get the picture. It's a culture of debates and disagreeing at the most intense level. Even the former PM was heavily criticized and opposed not only by the oppositions but by the member of his own coalition including those from his own party. Whatever the change in leadership it is hoped that the leaders will make Israel security as above politics. That has been the rule of the game. The moment they lose that, Israel will be in grave danger. Shallom.

I'm an atheist and religious motivation and reasoning leaves me cold. But Bennett's moral and intellectual clarity is awesome. His ideas of an economic light house are compelling and offer a reasonable prospect of hope for peace. He's obviously fluent in English but rather ponderous in what he says. Bibi's oratorical style in English is slicker and with a better understanding of how to conjure up and deliver soundbites. This will make a big difference in how the incoming (June 2021) PM will be heard in the US, UK and the wider international community. He can fix this by being coached in oratorical skills. Of more concern is his stance against a two-state solution and his support of yet more settlements in the West Bank/Judea & Sumeria. I have confidence that he will be as strong and effective as Bibi in the defence of Eretz Yisroel but see no end in sight to this intractable situation without there being a two-state solution on the table...
