Big Skynyrd fan from Alabama here, this is probably their best. Been listening to it since it came out.

There were many “Curtis Leows.” I did a Lynyrd Skynyrd tour with Ronnie Van Zandt’s best friend from childhood, and he was there, security manager, Gene Odom. The part about them collecting soda bottles and take them to the store to get money is true. A lot of it is true, but there was just not one single person named Curtis, but there were many inspirations. One of their inspirations was a blue singer named.Son House.

Not all of the Southern rockers of the time would admit it, but the Blues was an integral part of their music......this is a great example of what L.S., the Allman Bros. and many more bands could do with a 'traditional' Blues number......soooo goood

He did have a couple of people that were like Curtis Loew so it's sort of a combined of the influences to his music

Bama girl. I would have been collecting bottles and giving my money to Curtis to listen to him. And my parents would have understood.

my fav Skynard song. I've always pictured Curtis Lowe and Mr Bojangles, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, working in a travelling minstral show.. I knew old men like them as a child in the 60's growing up in NorCal.

I wonder if Curtis was Ronnie's inspiration for the slide guitar in his band ?
