Thanks as always for the killer content dude! I have a video request: My track growing up at several jumps located about 90% of the way through turns (or less). They almost always had kickers and occasionally ruts. There was a particular one that scared the crap out of me - 30-40ft table coming right out of a silty right hand chicane, and when I'd hit it it'd pop my back end in a weird direction and set me up for a very fast high-side (a dude actually died on that jump because of that exact thing). Overall, as a C rider, the jump deformation that happens from fast guys can be sketchy, but especially in this situation.

why does AJ not nail any starts in supercross, not even in LCQ's. No hate just wondering?

Because everyone else gets a better gate through qualifying and it ain't easy

mainly from not wanting to try. AJ has a life and a business. he races for fun and knows starts are the most risky part of the race because so much is beyond ones control. AJ rather play it safe on the start and pass guys in the whoops later. late last season he started getting more aggressive and was actually surprised at himself. his first season back he admitted he was letting everyone go on the starts on purpose. he also mentioned that his bike gets left behind on the long start straits. it's only got a pipe and controller. no internal engine mods. AJ has a million MX starts under his belt. he knows how to start. he just does not need to commit like that at this stage in his life.

When I’m dropping the clutch I find my bike lugging is this because I’m not giving it enough RPMs or am I releasing the clutch to fast?
@1176hambone
@1176hambone 11 ай бұрын
Maybe a little of both.Try dropping it slower, maybe? Find the rev limiter and back it off a bit? It's finding that blend of rpm and clutch release to get wheel turning before clutch is all the way out. sort of a Manual traction control. If your clutch "window" of release is narrow, and it has an on/off feeling, your clutch is worn.

keep this in mind... with two strokes the throttle is held completely wide open at that point. so that's your starting point in understanding the rpm needed for a true gate-drop start. on the 4-strokes however, you don't want that oscillation of the RPM's cycling minutely off of the rev limiter, as it diminishes the smoothness of the start process. thus its better to have the throttle at a point where its open as far as it can be without the rev limiter kicking in. so just open it up, then close it back to that point it sounds steady. wait for the gate and go. as for clutch modulation, that depends on traction. so in sand you can just drop it. on clay you will need to be slower to prevent a wheelie. last thought, don't feel any pressure to run the fork lock-down hole-shot devise. unless you're a top of the class racer your just adding risk and hassle.
